Thursday on The Young and the Restless, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) were reeling from the aftermath of Noah Newman's (Lucas Adams) car crash. They were told by Detective Burrow (Matt Cohen) that their son's vehicle may have been run off the road intentionally.
If the police detective looks familiar, it's because he portrayed Dr. Griffin Monroe on General Hospital from 2016 to 2019. Griffin was the son of popular character Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan). He was dating Ava Jerome (Maura West) but began sleeping with her daughter Kiki Jerome ( Haley Erin), who now plays Claire Newman on Y&R.
Griffin left Port Charles after Kiki was murdered by Ryan Chamberlin (Jon Lindstrom). Cohen joined Entertainment Tonight that same year. In 2020, he directed the episode Gimme Shelter on Supernatural and was part of the directing team of Days of Our Lives. In 2023, he was fired from ET along with several other employees.
Will Detective Burrows stick around Y&R?
Noah's accident happened in Malibu, CA, which is across the country from Genoa City. This suggests that Detective Burrow will not be a long-term character. He may only be on screen long enough to learn who ran Noah off the road and why.
Cohen could be involved in a short story arc until Noah returns to Genoa City. Some spoilers suggest that he is up to no good because he called someone and shared with them that Nick and Sharon agreed to an investigation into their son's accident.
There is also a possibility that the detective might relocate to Genoa City. Now that Chance Chancelor (Conner Floyd) is dead the GCPD has no lead detective on screen. Time will tell the direction of this new character.

Matthew Joseph Cohen is Jewish and was born on September 28, 1982, in Miami, Florida. His early work includes directing the short Chutes and Ladders in 2015, and starring in films including Boogeyman 2, Windsor Drive, and Dark House. In 2023, he starred in the Hallmark movie, Made for Each Other.
Cohen has appeared in many television series, including How to Get Away With Murder, Criminal Minds, Criminal Minds Beyond Borders, Melissa & Joey, NCIS Los Angeles, and South of Nowhere, where he met his wife, Mandy Musgrove.
Cohen and his co-star were married on May 18, 2011. Their son Macklin was born in April 2015. He directed six episodes of Cowgirl Up, and appeared in the Webseries Kings of Corn, and Rockville CA.
What really happened to Noah?
Is there something nefarious going on with the police detective or is he just doing his job? If Noah was targeted who would be out to get him and why?It is an enemy of his grandfather Victor Newman (Eric Btraeden) or someone trying to get back at one or both of his parets?
Some Y&R fans believe Ian Ward ( Ray Wise) is alive and well and behind Noah's vehicle going off the road. Perhaps he has made some enemies of his own that have nothing to do with what has taken place in Genoa City.
There are viewers who believe Noah's accident is a smokescreen designed to bring Nick adn Sharon closer to a reunion. Those who watch the CBS soap are also wondering whether Kelsey Wang or a recast will bring Allie Nguyen back to Genoa City. Be watching for updates about Matt Cohen's character.
