Is Kai Taylor on his way out?

Social media is buzzing with the news that Jens Austin Astrup, who portrays Kai Taylor, was not in the General Hospital closing credits on Friday, October 17. This usually indicates an actor is no longer under contract. What does this indicate for the GH cast member?

 The rumor mill is going strong regarding Astrup and Kai's fate. Some GH fans believe the actor may be on recurring status, while others suggest he has been fired. Viewers noticed when Taj Bellow was no longer listed in the ending credits, and his character, TJ Ashford, disappeared without a trace.

Astrup is a talented actor, but his character probably never had a chance. He was paired with Trina Robinsn (Taabyana Ali) not long after Spencer Cassadine ( Nicholas Chaves) was declared dead. Trina and Spencer were a popular couple, and their adventures on the Haunted Star and in Greenland were exciting.

Spencer was part of a legacy family in Port Charles and had interactions with various cast members. Kai has no PC connections except for Trina and her family and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).

Sometimes certain characters work, and others appear out of place. Fans have noticed that since Chaves left the soap, Trina seems to be on the periphery of her parents' problems without a life of her own. She and Kai have not had scenes where their relationship has been strengthened.

 Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) did not have a PC family, but he clicked right away with Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and others. Fans were stunned when he was murdered.

S Vaughn (Bryce Durphy) has also fit in, but Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) seemed out of place and was killed. Choosing Astrip, who is over six feet tall, appeared to some fans as if General Hospital wanted Trina's new boyfriend to look similar to Spencer.

Does Kai have a future in Port Charles

Kai and Trina destroyed the evidence that Drew had on Portia Robinson (Brooke Kerr) and were in his apartment when he was shot. Kai had been worried about hsi fingerprints on the baseball bat in Drew's living room. He decided that since he works for the Congressman, it would be normal for hsi prints to be in the home.

Some General Hospital fans are saying they don't like the character and hope he has been written out. GH viewers have been vocal about wanting Chavez to return, but there is no information suggesting he will. He is not currently working on a project, but that could change.

Astrup was born on March 9, 2000. Earlier this year, during an interview with Maurice Benard on his Podcast State of Mind the young actor shared that when he was 15, his father died by suicide. He added that his dad dealt with depression because he had a hard time earning enough money, and the family suffered severely.
