Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23 - A Recommendation in Memes.
There’s a show I really want you to watch.

There’s a show I really want you to watch.
I know you already have at least seven other shows you swore to yourself you’d finally give a try but I can assure you, this one will be worth it.
Why do I say so? Because before finding out about this show, I was in the middle of watching seven other shows, none of which had gripped me yet. I still had a wandering eye.
And that’s when I found out about it.

Don’t Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23 was never on my radar. In fact prior to two weeks ago, I had never even heard about the show. But then that all changed when on January 21st – yup, just 10 days ago, I was bored so I opened up Instagram. After scrolling through a whole lot of non-activity on my home page, I decided to go somewhere I very rarely go – the explore page.
I opened it up and I began scrolling. Not too long into my scroll, I stumbled upon this meme.
Immediately, I knew I wanted to see more. So I scrolled to read the caption and was met with all the information I needed. The show is called Don’t Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23 which I still cannot believe is the ACTUAL name of the show especially because it’s an ABC show created by Nahnatchka Khan who is most popular for making the ABC sitcom, Fresh off the Boat.
Don’t Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23 ran for two seasons beginning on April 11, 2012 and ending on January 15, 2013. It has a total of 26 episodes, 7 in the first season and 19 in the second season.
I binged the entire show in 3 days. To understand how big of a deal that is for me, I’m comparatively still in Season 4, Episode 21 of Black-Ish and that's been for about three years now.
This show is soooo GOOOOOD!! Perfect for fans of shows like 2 Broke Girls, Difficult People, New Girl, and The Mindy Project.
What’s The Show About?

The official Wikipedia synopsis of Don’t Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23 reads:
The series follows June Colburn as she moves from Indiana to New York City to pursue her dream job—until she finds out that it no longer exists. She ends up moving in with a bon vivant party girl named Chloe. Chloe keeps her apartment by inviting roommates to move in, asking for rent up front, and then behaving outrageously until they leave. June proves more difficult to dislodge than expected, and when June reverses Chloe's latest attempt to eject her in an unexpected fashion, they end up forming an unlikely friendship.
That basically sums up the first episode. In a nutshell, the show is about 2 different characters: June who is a doe-eyed innocent optimistic girl from Indiana and Chloe, a rambunctious offensive crazy party-girl from New York. For what to expect from every episode, think Tom and Jerry if Tom and Jerry wasn't PG-13 and about two young women set in New York.

Why Is It Such A Guilty Pleasure?

The reason I consider Don't Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23 a real guilty pleasure is because there are so many times the show will make you laugh when you should NOT be laughing.
For example - and this is relatively tame example compared to some other jokes shared in the show - there is one scene where June is bragging about her perfect meal prep and then Chloe goes on to brag about her own perfect meal which is - well, cocaine!
The show never shies away from taking jabs at everything. And by everything, I do mean E-VERY-THING! From abortions to disability to Hilary Clinton.
Don't Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23 is a perfect example of a show that is sooo wrong on soooo many levels, yet manages to be so good you cannot wait to turn on the next episode.
If you want a real guilty pleasure finish-in-a-day kind of comedy, then Don't Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23 just might be the perfect show for you!
