Days of Our Lives: Tate and Sophia's unrealistic reality

The duo has lived in their current situation in a bubble, shielded from the outside world and their peers, but this could change.

Sophia, Tate, and Holly are living in a bubble

Days of Our Lives has allowed Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) and Tate Black (Leo Howard) to live in an unrealistic reality. They have been able to navigate their scandalous situation surrounded by family and friends. They have not been shown inside Salem High being scrutinized by their peers, and everyone in Salem seems supportive of the pregnancy.

Perhaps there will be some conflict within the school walls or at the upcoming prom. Maybe the soap will continue to keep the drama contained to Salem Square and a select group of locals.

The reality for these teens has been somewhat surreal ever since Sophia and Tate went to the prom together last year. He was only using her so he could sneak away and spend time with Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis). Tate and Holly began dating but broke up, and Sophia (presumably) lost her virginity to Tate.

Where is the high school drama?

When Ms. Choi announced her pregnancy, Tate and Holly did not break up, and she gave her virginity to him as well. This part of the story is realistic because young people make rash decisions. The second time they were together, Tate referred to Sophia as Holly, and she was crushed.

What is unrealistic is that none of this played out in the school hallways or locker rooms. There have been no whispers, stares, or wisecracks from other students about the situation. This would have added to the drama, but DOOL kept this storyline away from the classrooms.

It would have been interesting to see Tate's buddies harassing him as teenagers do. Someone from school might have eaten at the Bistro when Sophia was working and took jabs at her. In real-time, both Holly and Sophia would have been called out by their classmates because of their attachment to Tate and this Jerry Springer-esque reality show situation.

Will there be trouble at the prom?

Now, Holly seems smitten with Doug Williams III (Peyton Meyer), and Sophia and Tate have been bonding over the baby. Spoilers tease that the expectant parents will attend the prom together again this year. Will this bring up bad memories from a year ago or mark the start of a new chapter?

Will the duo enjoy their senior prom or be under scrutiny from the prying eyes of teachers and students? Could there be trouble, and Tate become angry and hit someone like he did Doug? Holly might show up with Doug as her date, which could infuriate her ex.

Perhaps Sophia may go into labor while attending the high school dance with Tate by her side. The possibilities for drama are there, but the writers might not address any of these issues. One thing Days of Our Lives fans know is that once the baby is born and handed over to the Dimeras, everything will change.

Can the adoption be reversed?

Sophia's pregnancy is progressing smoothly, and a few days ago, she and Tate felt the baby move for the first time. Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielson) gave her permission for Chanel Dimera (Raven Bowens) and Johnny Dimera (Carson Boatman) to adopt her grandchild. Papers were signed by all parties involved, and Belle Black (Martha Madison) is filing them, so it's a done deal.

It's unclear if there is time allowed for the parents to change their minds or if the adoption is irrevocable. Perhaps Sophia and Tate may decide to raise their baby together. If not, they may realize they are in love and begin a real relationship.

Regardless, the Days of Our Lives writers may have them go all the way through the baby's birth without any negativity coming at them from Salemites, adults, or other teens.
