Many people think celebrities must be perfect to make it in Hollywood. That is far from the truth. Some of our favorite stars have scars, flaws, and imperfections. Some of them are noticeable, but that doesn't matter to producers and movie directors. Skills are more important. Besides, some scripts call for actors to have certain imperfections.

There is a whole range of imperfections that do not keep good actors and models from landing significant roles. Some celebrities are blind in one eye. One celebrity has no eardrum. A successful model has no belly button. An A-list actor has a small ear and a large ear. Many celebrities have eyes of different colors. Dozens of actors and actresses have scars and moles on their faces.

This article is not meant to make fun of anyone. Rather, it is to show how strong these people are in spite of what some might call "flaws."

Forest Whitaker

Forest Whitaker has a hereditary condition that causes his left eye to droop. It did not stop him from being one of his generation's best actors.

Whitaker's eye condition has not prevented him from acting and winning many honors and awards. Fans don't pay much attention to his lazy eye. Instead, they see Whitaker's superb acting ability.

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth has heterochromia, a condition that causes her to have two different eye colors. One eye is blue, and one eye is hazel. The actress says her different eye colors have not hindered her from getting acting jobs. In fact, it's been quite the opposite.

Her unique eyes have even helped her land certain movie roles. For instance, the director wanted her to keep her natural-colored eyes in her 2006 Lois Lane role in Superman Returns. At other times, she uses a colored contact lens, so both eyes will match.

Many beautiful celebrities have visible scars. Actress and comedian Tina Fey is usually filmed from her right side because she is self-conscious of the scar she has had on her left cheek since she was 5 years old. A stranger attacked her and cut her cheek while she was playing in her front yard. The scar has faded significantly as she aged.

Singer Mary J. Blige doesn't talk about the scar below her left eye, but some people say it was the result of a childhood fight with another girl.

The scars on Seal's face are the result of discoid lupus, an autoimmune disease. The butterfly rashes have been on his face since he was a teenager. The scars did not keep the singer from marrying and having children with the beautiful Heidi Klum.

Joaquin Phoenix was born with a noticeable scar between his top lip and nose that has been described as a mild form of cleft palate.

Harrison Ford has a deep scar underneath his chin as a result of a car crash long before he became an actor. It was noticeable in all his auditions. That means he was cast even with the deep scar.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has a long scar on her chest. It is barely seen unless someone is actually looking for it. The scar is a result of tracheotomy surgery. When she was a young girl, she couldn't breathe because of a virus, and the surgery was necessary to save her life.

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has a 3-inch-long thin scar on her left temple, just above her hairline. The scar is the result of a childhood surgery. Most of the time, it is not visible because it is covered by her hair.

Disfigured Hands

Michael Strahan was injured while playing football for the Giants many years ago. He laughs about his crooked fingers. They do not keep him from having multiple jobs on television.

Actress Megan Fox doesn't have fingers like most people. They are shaped and look more like toes than fingers, especially her thumbs.

Denzel Washington snapped the pinky finger of his right hand when he was playing basketball as a youngster. The finger healed in an odd position because it was not repaired at the time. Therefore, it points outwards from his hand. However, it has not kept him from being an A-List actor.

Ears Imperfections

Gerard Butler underwent ear surgery as a child that resulted in one of his ears sticking out more than the other. It is not noticeable when he has long hair. The actor is also deaf in his right ear because he suffers from tinnitus.

Speaking of ears, most people don't know Stephen Colbert, the host of The Late Night Show on CBS cannot hear out of his right ear because of a missing eardrum. He had surgery on his ear when he was a child that caused damage to his eardrum. Colbert's first career choice was to become a marine biologist. He could not pursue it because he could not scuba dive with a damaged ear.

Model With No Navel

Karolína Kurková doesn't have a navel or belly button. The famous Victoria’s Secret model's missing navel is the result of surgery she had as a child that did not heal the way it should have.

Man with No Hair at All

Charlie Villanueva has no hair on any part of his body. The Dominican athlete was born with an autoimmune skin disease that causes loss of hair all over his body. He doesn't even have eyebrows.

• Sandy Duncan can't see out of her left eye. The optic nerve was destroyed when she had a tumor removed.
• Damon Wayans has a club foot.
• Oprah Winfrey has an odd-looking foot.
• Jennifer Garner's toes are bigger than her big toe.
• Ashton Kutcher has slightly webbed feet.
• LeBron James has abnormal toes. However, they do not keep him from excelling on the basketball court.
• Mark Wahlberg has three nipples.
• Daryl Hannah is missing some fingers.
• NBA player Gerald Green always tries to keep his right hand hidden when he is not playing because his ring finger is missing.

My Imperfections

I am not a celebrity in Hollywood. I grew up in rural Virginia with an iron water pump in the backyard. When I was a teenager, my oldest sister chased me, and I ran into the pump. The pump survived, but I was left with an indentation in the middle of my forehead. It has faded significantly over the years.

I also have small eyes. I can open them only as wide as they are seen in the above photo.
