Can Anyone Stop Elizabeth Olsen?

Its Time to Give Olsen Her Emmy Already

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR WANDAVISION FINALE

This Friday WandaVision wrapped its series finale with an emotional rollercoaster with nods to the comics, snappy one liners, and heartfelt tear filled moments. With the series now wrapped it only leaves one question...

Well maybe not one question exactly as Marvel fans have been speculating what the future holds for Wanda Maximoff, now The Scarlet Witch, and her new found power. Will she be evil? Can she bring her children back? Where the heck did White Vision just yeet off to?

So many questions left up in the air, but the question burning on viewer's minds is what about Elizabeth Olsen?

Olsen joined the franchise in Age of Ultron originally as a villain turned hero, but whats become apparently obvious from the beginning is that Olsen is on another level. In the films she displayed a pallet of acting abilities. She was creepy and villainous, then vulnerable and lost, to brave and confident, and eventually to all out savage when she nearly single-handedly defeated the biggest baddie in the Marvel Universe to date.

Olsen proved she was a force to be reckoned with and could hold her own against acting veterans like Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, and of course the king Robert Downey Jr.

Then came WandaVision.

And boy was the world not prepared for the tour de force that is Elizabeth Olsen.

Olsen played decades old sitcom styles flawlessly playing into the over the top line deliveries, hand gestures, and perfect I Love Lucy "Oh no faces", then she threw it all away to jump into an entire new genre of acting style again and again and again. WandaVision is masterclass in acting in every possible way you can think of all centered around weighing on Olsen's shoulders and boy does he not disappoint. She even hold her own in comedic scenes with the great Kathryn Hahn who is known as a comedic scene stealer. *Its been Agatha all along music sting*

Now you may be saying "Big deal. Tons of actors jump styles in their own shows and play dramatic moments in comedic shows." And you'd be right.

The difference in WandaVision is that Olsen instantaneously snaps between playing pretend in her self-made reality to raw emotional trauma: viciously lashing out, having hysterical break downs, and defiantly declaring her claim on her new life with a simple yet terrifying, "No." Then she snaps back as if she were effortlessly stepping back into a complex tango without break a bead of sweat.

But when with reality pushing against her Olsen's character had to do something hardly any characters have to do and had to relive all of her trauma that she tried so hard to leave behind. She fights to forget and move forward with her life and then she is unwillingly dragged through her own personal hell. Only to have to be confronted again with the notion that her form of coping has harmed an entire town of people with her "harmless" escapism.

She fights and wins the day, but only to realize she must face what is real and say good bye to the world she so desperately wanted and had so viciously ripped from her. Olsen deserves to win the Emmy award for whatever category she is nominated for because she made us laugh, fall in love, melted our hearts, broke our hearts, repaired our hearts, broke our hearts again, and finally left us hoping the best for her.

The choice is obvious, Elizabeth Olsen gave a career defining performance in WandaVison that will certainly propel her trajectory in the Marvel world, but also the very real acting world. To not reward her outstanding work would be an insult to the actress herself. Now there are many talented actresses that could be thrown up for an Emmy award in the fall for their performances and rightfully so, but not a one can stand a flame next to the raging inferno of talent that Olsen displayed in the gift that was WandaVision.

So can anyone stop Elizabeth Olsen? Will Olsen win for Best Actress at the Emmy awards? This writer hopes so and if not he may just have to find his own Westview to live in.
