"Beyond the Gates" Week 7 Review
Very stunning and wild developments take over the seventh week of the CBS soap

Can you believe we are almost two months into this amazing contribution to the soap opera genre?! Beyond the Gates keeps getting more and more delicious with each week that passes. 33 episodes have now aired on CBS, which isn't even a drop in the bucket compared to soaps that have existed for decades and generations, but even so, Beyond the Gates has definitely arrived in this genre... big time!
Week 7 of this soap delivered with some big time moments that were either hilarious, stunning, or jaw-dropping. They are as follows:
April 7

Laura's back! The original intern we saw during premiere week returned to kick off Week 7, and from what we saw, she was taking a turn for the better. Unfortunately, Leslie could not have that. Remember: Leslie ran down Laura to get Eva in that position as part of her master plan. Laura's improving, and with that, Eva will be out of that position. So Leslie goes rogue once again, and I'm literally saying, "OMG she's about to kill Laura!" I was close, but yeah, Leslie just keeps going way, way off the deep end.
April 8

We go from diabolical to hilarious in the Tuesday episode, which centered on Chelsea's modeling farewell. The episode featured this funny moment where Tomas is approached by Vernon, who learns that Tomas and Kat are an item. What follows? Ted, Martin, and Smitty all approaching Tomas, giving us a hilarious moment where the male family members all kinda "haze" Tomas, if you will. I just couldn't help but laugh at this. Tomas held his own, sort of. The guys did their best to mess with Tomas, and Tomas did his best to take it. It was heartwarming, but mostly hilarious as hell.

The moment that stood out for me in the Wednesday episode was Samantha (Martin and Smitty's daughter) being bitten by the modeling bug after performing at the big show. She wants in. Badly. Chelsea's willing to manage her. That only leaves just one obstacle: her dads. Well, mainly Martin. She approached Smitty first, knowing that he would be more reasonable, but Martin was not having it when it came to Samantha having a modeling career. Martin didn't budge even when time passed for both sides to think about it, but Samantha's doing it anyway. For her sake, I do hope her quest and attempt result in good things for Samantha.

So Thursday, we were "treated" to Bill and Hayley appearing at the country club attempting to force the public into accepting Hayley. They bear witness to Dani being removed from the board by Hannah, and they do the world's worst job of hiding their joy over this. We later see Bill and Hayley act smug and arrogant as they talk down to Dani about what happened. Now let's get one thing straight. I'm still new to soaps, but I'm a LONG TIME hockey fan, and I recognize this big time. Bill and Hayley are doing what Edmonton Oilers fans have done for the last three years now. They get a meaningless "victory," and they talk massive shit when they literally have no right to do so. This is especially true in Hayley's case, as she actually had the nerve to say that what happened to Dani puts her and Hayley in the same boat. No, Hayley, you're not like Dani. Dani can stand on her own two feet. Hayley needs Bill to hang on to what little relevancy she thinks she has. Dani told her exactly that, which is the equivalent of what we Avs fans have told Oilers fans for three years: "Kiss the ring, bitch!"

A moment from Friday's episode really stuck with me: Ted actually told Andre about his extramarital dalliance with Dana (aka Leslie and other aliases). I never thought he'd spill the beans like this to anyone, but now I do see that it wasn't surprising that he told Andre, as Andre's a bit of a skirt-chaser himself. This was done because Andre put his uncle on a pedestal, saying that Ted is nothing like Bill Hamilton. Ted says he's just as bad as Bill, but after hearing this, I had to ask myself this: Is Ted actually worse than Bill?
A saying that I take very seriously goes like this: "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't know." We know what Bill is. He's a scoundrel, he's a prick, he's a misogynist, and he doesn't really hide it. As for Ted, who the hell is he really? He really does his best to hide his own shady past and conduct; hell, he's resorted to paying to keep his affair hidden (surprise, surprise; Leslie's still coming for him). And Ted says he loves Nicole and his family, but again, who was he before he married into the Dupree family? At least with Bill, he pretty much all but tells us that he married into that family for the prestige. Ted definitely did the same, but he's acting like he's not all about drinking in everything that comes with marrying into that family. Ted will show his ass eventually. People like that usually do.
