A shocking deception takes place on Days of Our Lives regarding Sophia's baby, and Melinda and Leo are involved

Sophia's drastic measures

It looks like history is about to repeat itself in Salem. New spoilers for *Days of Our Lives* reveal a surprising turn of events involving Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd). Sophia will give birth to a son at home in her bedroom, and fearing that Tate Black ( Leo Howard) will fall in love with the baby and want to keep him, she decides on a great deception.

She will clean up all evidence of the birth without informing her baby daddy or her mother. Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nelson) has been a helicopter mom during the entire pregnancy. Now that her daughter is 18, she is exercising her right to make her own decisions and defying her mom at every turn. Feeling that her pregnancy has derailed her senior year—making her miss both prom and graduation—Sophia opts for a drastic measure.

She plans to take her baby to a Safe Haven box at the local fire station, where Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon) will discover the child and bring him to the hospital. To cover up the truth, Sophia will contact Melinda Trask (Tina Huang), and the two of them will concoct a false story to convince Tate that she gave birth to a girl, who has already been placed with adoptive parents.

Melinda should have stayed out of it

Last week, Melinda told Sophia she could not be her attorney because of the bad blood between her and the Brady/Black families, because of her involvement with the deception about Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) and baby Jude. Instead of keeping out of the situation, former DA Trask will resort to involving herself yet again in a situation that will cause turmoil.

She claims she wants to assist Sophia because she once gave up a baby for adoption. Knowing the risks if the truth is revealed and that she will once again be at odds with one of Salem's most prominent families, Melinda should stand down, but she won't.

Leo will unwittingly be involved again

Fans may recall that Leo Stark(Greg Rikaart), and his then-boyfriend Dimitri Von Leuschner (Peter Peros) assisted Nicole DiMera (Ari Zucker) during the birth of her son, while Melinda helped Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) deceive everyone into believing Jude was adopted legally.

This storyline with Sophia and Tate's son also involves Leo who, alongside Javi, will decide to care for the newborn. However, if they choose to adopt the child, they are likely to face heartbreak when the truth eventually comes to light.

Sophia and Tate don't have a chance now

Many *Days of Our Lives* fans had hoped that Tate and Sophia might opt to raise the baby together, but that possibility is now off the table. Amy and Tate will be left furious when they learn what has happened to the child. What will happen when the details come to light? Will Leo and Javi be allowed to keep the baby, or will Tate try to raise him as a single dad?
