Scav Bosses Always Spawning was a Mistake
(Intro) Hardcore Tarkov is about making the game more challenging in a variety of ways. One change that went against the idea of difficult and challenging was making the bosses always spawn at the start of the wipe. I’m not entirely sure why this change was made, but with all the other restrictions that BSG put onto players, allowing us the constant chance to fight any boss on any maps was simply a mistake. Most people initially saw that in the pre wipe pictures they put out and scratched their heads wondering if it was going to be a good call adding the bosses all the time. Well, turns out it wasn’t and only after a couple of days, their spawn rate was reduced. So, let’s talk about it; the bosses in Tarkov, how they addition to hardcore goes against the entire point of the challenge, what I would’ve personally done, and just how it feels as though this hardcore experience has already lost some of its luster with all these changes happening so quickly.

Ref is Still Broken in Hardcore Tarkov
(Intro) Ref has been a trader in the game for a while now. And before this wipe, he was already considered to be an arguably too powerful dealer within the world of EFT. Tons of fully modified weapons, the best ammunitions in the game, all being sold with GP coins instead of rubles. Even if you didn’t have him leveled up all the way to four, at three or even two, he still provided tons of equipment for you to use that can give you a fighting chance against other players. And with the release of this hardcore wipe, we all thought surely, surely, he would get nerfed to a point where people might dabble with his wares, but it doesn’t feel necessary in order to be successful. Well… he was nerfed, technically. But his inventory has been revealed and man, Ref is still easily the best trader in the game. His existence breaks the rules of Tarkov, and combined with this being a hardcore wipe, he ruins it completely.

Is the Hideout Worth Upgrading in Hardcore Tarkov?
(Intro) A lot of Tarkov’s elements and mechanics have changed with this hardcore wipe. One of which being the hideout. And many would argue it’s genuinely just worse off. While we no longer need found in raid items to count for the module installations and upgrades, to compromise for that BSG has made leveling up the hideout that much harder by increasing how much we need to collect. That alone is a fair trade; I use that word loosely. The things we find now don’t need a survival status to be useful, and we can still apply them to the hideout should we get sent back to our stash prematurely. But now, even after about a week of playing, I don’t even have all my modules installed to level one. It’s been a very slow process even just getting the foundation of the hideout setup. On top of that I am quickly running out of room because I have so many items I may or may not need depending on whether I keep going with the hideout or not, which is a valid question people are probably asking themselves. Which has gotten me thinking: is it even worth it to invest into the hideout this wipe? There’s more to it than just needing more items, so let’s break it down and have a conversation about the hideout within the context of this wipe and what it might look like when 1.0 releases later this year.
