Tarkov is Better Off Without the Flea Market
(Intro) Tarkov is simply better off without the flea market. A mechanic that was introduced all the way back in 2018, and since its introduction has created more problems and band aid fixes across the rest of the game than maybe any other mechanic introduced. And over the years, the flea market has taken on many different forms and iterations to try and salvage the balance of the game, all without any success. There is no world in which this mechanic is healthy for a game like EFT; the emphasis on going into raids and extracting with items means any way of cutting that entire process out of the equation is going to be not only preferred but abused by the community. BSG tried so many times to dial the market down in a variety of ways, but ultimately nothing really got the flea to a place that it felt welcome in the game. You can take the flea out of the game, but you can’t take the game out of the flea. Even with its absence here in the hardcore wipe, the damage the market has done across the game can still be felt. So today, let’s go over the flea market as a whole; the different eras of it, how its inclusion impacted pretty much every major mechanic in the game and how much better Tarkov is without it being around. It’s going to come back, but I honestly wish it wouldn’t.

Hardcore Tarkov Was a Failure and It Makes Me Sad
(Intro) Was the hardcore wipe for EFT a failure? Hardcore Tarkov has had a very tumultuous reputation since it was released with the most recent wipe. Tons of opinions across the community, ranging from this being the most fun wipe players have had, to the absolute worst how did BSG think this was a good idea. It’s been crazy to see so many different people talking about the handling of this wipe as a whole. And it’s barely been two weeks. Which is crazy because with all the changes coming from BSG, it’s felt like two months. But we’ve barely scratched the surface, and yet we kind of know what to expect for the foreseeable future. And while everyone else has and their opinions, my own is that this wipe had the potential to be one of the most impactful shake ups to the game since it was launched. I stand by the idea that Tarkov has needed a shake up on this scale for a long time. Something that would definitely make players hesitant to try it but would eventually give way to a difficult but enjoyable experience that truly tests the metal of an EFT players. It could’ve been amazing; and yet it’s only been okay. A complete failure? Depends on who you ask. But let’s talk about how BSG could’ve changed the game to preserve the hardcore experience while also making respectable and reasonable changes that many would’ve agreed with, and where do we go from here in regard to a more hardcore experience.

Scav Bosses Always Spawning was a Mistake
(Intro) Hardcore Tarkov is about making the game more challenging in a variety of ways. One change that went against the idea of difficult and challenging was making the bosses always spawn at the start of the wipe. I’m not entirely sure why this change was made, but with all the other restrictions that BSG put onto players, allowing us the constant chance to fight any boss on any maps was simply a mistake. Most people initially saw that in the pre wipe pictures they put out and scratched their heads wondering if it was going to be a good call adding the bosses all the time. Well, turns out it wasn’t and only after a couple of days, their spawn rate was reduced. So, let’s talk about it; the bosses in Tarkov, how they addition to hardcore goes against the entire point of the challenge, what I would’ve personally done, and just how it feels as though this hardcore experience has already lost some of its luster with all these changes happening so quickly.
