Delta Force: Hawk Ops Alpha Review - Apathetic Towards It
Another day, another new game trying to break out into the spotlight. A couple of weeks ago I watched a video about a new up and coming shooter called Delta Force: Hawk Ops, and from the screenshots, little bits of gameplay and teaser footage that video showed, I was interested and wanted to check it out. On their steam page you could request access for their alpha test and so I did. Now here we are, the alpha is live and after playing the game for about 6 hours between the two different multiplayer modes, this game is definitely trying its best to cater to the audiences that go beyond just the normal arcade arena shooter enjoyers. The campaign wasn’t available to play, so that’ll most likely be there for the full release. If you’re a fan of Battlefield and the larger maps, more players and longer matches, you’ll most likely enjoy that mode with some friends in a squad just messing around and having fun. And if you are a fan of Tarkov, the extraction mode hits enough neurons in my brain that makes it feel both enjoyable and familiar while being different enough to not feel like a clone or copy. It has plenty of the same mechanics and elements as Tarkov, but they have their own flair to them that make it feel distinct. Objectively, you can enjoy both modes and have fun. Subjectively however, something about Delta Force: Hawk Ops feels... uninspired. Let’s talk about it.

Another year, another wipe. It is that time, once again. We are weeks away from Tarkov resetting once more and everyone starting over with a brand-new patch with brand new additions changes and the like. This wipe has felt like it’s gone on forever, because it kind of has; eight months is one of the longest wipes we’ve had. And also, because with the addition of the PvE mode, anyone who tried that out had to basically start over mid wipe. So technically, if you played PvE at all, you are going to be starting from level one for the third time in a single year. Pretty crazy when you think about it. But with any incoming wipe, it’s important to go over some mentality components when it comes to a new Tarkov wipe. There is a ton of excitement and hype surrounding whenever the game resets. People love the thrill of the early game, and it’s one of the best times to engage with the game. But at the same time, you can easily get swelled up in that hype and become overwhelmed with what’s going on. So, when you do start your next Tarkov journey, keep these mindsets in mind so that you can get the most out of your wipe day experience.

The First Time You Played Tarkov
Do you remember the first time you played Escape From Tarkov? I’m sure if everyone thought long and hard about when they first heard about Tarkov and their first couple dozens of hours with the game, a wave of nostalgia comes flooding past them. The sense of not knowing what to do, what each item meant, and how your inventory looked substantial at the start, only after a couple of failed raids did you realize the gear given to you is quickly leaving the stash. It’s one of those experiences that as someone who enjoys video games, I would love to experience as a brand-new player once again. Up there with games like Call of Duty Zombies, the first month of For Honor, and any Dark Souls game. For how scary and intimidating Tarkov is initially, I look back on playing the game for the first time with more confusion and questions than really anything else. When I first played Factory, I thought you needed the Factory key in order to extract from the map. So, I looked up where it spawns and farmed the location running nothing but a hatchet for about a week. Only to then finally get the game, and have it wipe, not even understanding where the key went once I booted up the after it reset. We all start somewhere and for me, even though I had no clue what was going on, I was still enjoying myself if you can even believe that. Tarkov has changed so much in the almost seven years I have been playing it. Tons of new content and additions to the games in terms of gear and mechanics, but also going through the tougher waves when things weren’t looking so good. So today, I wanted to take some time and reflect on all the things about Tarkov that still feel nostalgic and maybe after listening it might unlock some core Tarkov memories that you totally forgot about, and who knows, they might put a little smile on your face as you remember the good and simpler times.
