XDefiant Season 2 Upcoming Updates: What to Expect

With Season 1 of XDefiant already underway, two of the three maps have been released so far, and frankly, not much in the way of content updates until Season 2 is released.

I wanted to take this time today to look at some new leaks from our insider tipsters, Rogue or TX Limited, that give us a little more information about what's coming to XDefiant Season 2.

What would you like to see in Season 2 or future updates of XDefiant? Or tell us what you think of the existing content. If you liked this article, please like it, and if you are new here, make sure to subscribe to the article to get more XDefiant related content and other FPS game coverage.

Finally, if you want to further enhance your Xdefiant gaming experience, you can use the XDefiant Boosting Service, you can get 5% off weapon unlocks, faction unlocks, battle pass boosting, rank boosting, and more at the U4GM store by using the coupon code "yang6" before payment. But there's absolutely no need to force spending. Okay, let's get to the point.

So first, let’s start with some of the weaponry on deck.

New Weapons: Season 2 will introduce several new weapons, including the PP19 SMG, the L86 SMG, and the SPAS-12 shotgun. These additions will expand the variety of weapons available, covering categories not yet explored in Season 1.

Honestly, it’s a decent subset of weapons, including a rifle, a sniper, and a second secondary shotgun. This continues the trend from the Season 1 update, which brought a good variety of weapons. While you can’t introduce a new weapon for every category every season, this update will touch a few more of the untouched categories with a primary shotgun, an LMG, and then an SMG.

Next up, regarding weaponry, we’re apparently going to see more Mastery camos introduced.

Mastery Camos: More Mastery camos will be available in Season 2. New camos include Liquid Revealed, Obsidian Liquid, Static Obsidian, and Liquid Revealed Animated Obsidian. These will be unlocked at higher weapon levels, adding new challenges for players.

If it’s anything like season 1, we will have a gap between the current max level in weaponry and when the next Mastery camo starts. It will likely be awarded at levels 500, 550, and 600 respectively for those three. I’m all for more Mastery camos, but I hope if there is a new Mastery system being worked on, it comes sooner rather than later. Grinding out weapons to level 600 for every single weapon is not something the average player will have any hope of achieving, so I wouldn’t want to see this go all the way up to level 700, 750, or 800.

Season 2 of XDefiant is set to introduce a new faction called The Highwaymen, inspired by the Far Cry series. This faction will bring new weapons and abilities, including a grenade launcher, a turret, a REV meter (details on this are still unclear), and a Buzz Saw Ultra, likely some sort of saw. The turret is particularly noteworthy because, in the early versions of XDefiant, the Cleaners had a turret ability before it was replaced with the current fire blast ability. It's exciting to see the turret making a return. While facing a grenade launcher might not be enjoyable, it appears that this will be part of the new additions as well.

Currently, we know of two additional maps coming in season 2: Signal and Waterfront. These will likely not be the only two maps, as we’ve seen detailed plans for content rollout that include one map per month or three every 90 days. So, there may be one more map coming, but we don’t know what it will be yet. We don’t really have enough details to know if these two maps, Signal or Waterfront, are Arena maps or progression maps.

Unfortunately, it seems that Prestige might not be coming in season 2. This system has been worked on and mentioned for months, but it doesn’t appear to be ready just yet. While it’s still possible it could come in season 2, there seems to be less information in the game files related to it, so it might not be ready by then. This could be disappointing for many players, as Prestige is a fundamental system.

Finally, the Bomb mode might be added in season 2 if it wasn’t included in season 1. It was previously mentioned as a target for season 1, but since we haven’t seen anything about it in the first five weeks, it will likely be launched with season 2. So, expect season 2 to come around September 24th.

That’s the latest on season 2 and beyond. Let me know your thoughts down below.
