Ten Video Games That Mock You for Playing on Easy Mode
Some video games are incredibly difficult. So difficult to the point that sometimes we throw our controllers on the floor in disgust. To add insult to injury, there are some video games that mock you. Whether it's because you died repeatedly, or chose an easier difficulty setting, these games found a way to get under your skin. Although game developers probably used this tactic to encourage gamers to play on a more difficult setting, it can still be demeaning and embarrassing. Here are ten video games that mock you for playing on easy mode.

Greatest Video Game Consoles of All Time
In the past thirty years, many immersive, entertaining console platforms have been released, showcasing a remarkable period in technology and gaming. Especially after exploring the many years of design breakthroughs and varied productions, you'll begin to see how these simple playthings have pushed the envelope in terms of animated graphics development, internet connectivity, and a plentitude of other integrations. All of this would not have been possible if not for the relatively unheard-of Ralph H. Baer, whose 1951 idea, later called “The Brown Box” by 1966, was the code name for what we all have never heard of: the Magnavox Odyssey. Though it was released in 1972, not long after (by about 1977) such consoles became obsolete due to a dawn in the epic, revolutionary “Pong” console. Manufacturers quickly dropped out of the industry and the creation of microprocessor-based console platforms even dwindled dramatically.

Specialty Video Game Accessories You Totally Forgot About
The reason there are so many specialty video game accessories that you totally forgot about is because so many game controllers are just a waste of your birthday gift cards. These gimmicky goods had few uses outside of a scant number of games, which makes them highly indulgent purposes that few could justify. Also, if the thing that makes the game worth buying is the controller, then a lot of people are not going to buy that game! This is especially true if there's a bad ad campaign along with it.

'God of War': A Role Model for an Entire Industry
2018’s God of War may be gaming’s new mascot for things we didn’t know we needed. Old school Kratos was almost adorable in his blind rage against the familiar faces of Greek mythology. It didn’t just work despite the fact that he was an underdeveloped protagonist, it worked because he was an underdeveloped protagonist. The thrilling, albeit simple character suited the thrilling, albeit simple gameplay. This new God of War takes that foundation and keeps it intact while simultaneously uprooting the entire thing to start from scratch. It may be the smoothest and most successful franchise overhaul in the history of gaming, a medium that somehow manages to love remakes and reboots more than its Hollywood counterpart. The praise for God of War 4, or PS4, or 2018, or just God of War (whatever you’ve been calling it), has been as universal as it is earned. So rather than just review the game, because my feedback may become tediously positive, we’ll also be taking a look into the secret ingredients that land such a historically memorable reception.

NES Memories
Atari had it all. Nolan Bushnell's company that put gaming on the map was on top of the world. The Atari VCS, otherwise known as the Atari 2600, was the most popular system for its time. There was nothing Atari could do wrong...until they did two things. The first thing was to create a game based on E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, and licensed Pac-Man for play on the 2600, disappointing players who were waiting for this legendary title, and only got the prototype that was made instead. All of this, and other events, led to the great video game crash of the 1980s. Now, I never knew about the crash until I read about it some years back. There were still arcades, there were still arcade games tucked in gas station and grocery store corners, and video games were still being made and sold. But unknown to me at the time, video games were almost gone in America. Until Nintendo stepped in to revive the North American video game industry. Nintendo, a Japanese company with established hits like Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., and Punch Out, wanted to make their presence known in America, but they had an uphill climb.

Nintendo Switch Accessories Every Gamer Needs
The Nintendo Switch is an amazing little system. It can be taken with you in handheld mode for fun play on the go, or nestled in its dock for awesome visuals and gameplay on your big screen. I've had the system since launch day and I can't get enough of it. The unfortunate thing is, not everything that you really need to have the best experience comes in the box. It's great on its own, sure, but there are a few accessories out there that really help to amp up the fun. We've compiled all the best Nintendo Switch accessories that your geeky little heart could ever want.

The Joy of Creation
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings, where I shine a light on the maligned, forgotten, and ignored. It seems like the vast majority of games were designed with the Michael Bay mindset of blowing up everything you see. The biggest franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield and even lesser ones like Ace Combat and Gears of War revolve almost entirely around destroying everything in sight. It seems almost like violence is the order of the day when it comes to games.

'Dragon Age' Spoilers
Have you ever picked up a book and turned to the last page just to see what happens at the end? Well, I do it with games, specifically Dragon Age. For those of you who may not have known, Dragon Age is a three game trilogy that has spanned a total of nine years. Created by Bioware, it is one of the most-played games beside Mass Effect. If you love dragons, heartbreaking romances, and Claudia Black, then it’s the game for you.

Zelda's Female Empowerment
The Legend Of Zelda is one of the most well known franchises in the world of gaming. Almost everyone knows about the story of a young boy in green called Link who slays Ganon and saves Princess Zelda. That's the main jest of the game, but Zelda is a lot more than just a damsel-in-distress. Whilst Nintendo's Princess Peach defines the damsel-in-distress model, Princess Zelda breaks the mould as stated on her Wikipedia page.
