Careful! Don't Drown in the Streams
You know that old adage “6 of one; half dozen of the other”? Like when it doesn’t matter what you choose? Welp, it looks like we’ve reached that saturation point with apps and streaming services. It’s as if Oprah herself announced “ You get a Stream.! You get a Stream! Everybody gets a Stream!” So many streams are flowing, one could easily get pulled under the water. Although we’ve all heard about Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, (not to mention all the news outlet streams), there’s pretty much something for everyone now. It’s quite likely, however, that you’ve never heard of many of them. Here are a few examples:

The Original Gentleman Jack. Top Story - July 2022.
The series “Gentleman Jack” is actually based on a true story. The drama is based in 1832 in West Yorkshire, England, (the cradle of the evolving Industrial Revolution). It is here that landowner Anne Lister is determined to save her ancestral home, Shibden Hall. Bucking against society’s expectations, “Gentleman Jack” refused to marry, dressed in black from head to toe and ‘charmed’ polite society. She was called “Gentleman” because she wore a top hat (as well as being in business), and”Jack” because — it was the Victorian nickname for lesbian.

Beware Remote Scam Ahead
Many would love the opportunity to ditch their 9 to 5 job and be able to work remotely. Many companies are researching if a return to the office is necessary and remote work may be the norm in the future. Sadly, just as rapidly as legitimate remote jobs appear, scams are taking advantage of the increasing appeal of remote work. These scams come in many different forms. They can come from an appealing email or even your best friend from high school.

Mind Goblins
What is a mind goblin? It is some entity, idea or phenomenon which is greedy for your attention and drinks it in, and which consequently occupies as large a space in your mind as you will allow it - a resource hogging program but for your brain, except that the program in question has no practical implications for the workload of the machine - malware, or a virus, basically. The way this can work is through a self-feeding loop of attention-grabbing behaviour, or through a near-instantaneous trance effect where the entity in question consumes countless seconds, minutes or hours up until the point that you realize you got got, at which point it is too late. It is, in other words, the imp of the perverse.

Was It Fiction, Or A Prediction?
As a taxpaying resident of Belleville, Van Buren Township, Michigan, I wonder if our city is collecting new buildings? Our community has many available store fronts you can see immediately upon entering via main street or Rawsonville roads. As a matter of fact, there's a sign promising more new store fronts to be built as you travel south on Main. If entering from Huron River Drive there is a newer building that has stood empty for quite a few years. When I read in the local Belleville Independent Newspaper that the new construction on Main Street would result in store fronts such as a coop grocer and meat market, three new bars and more, my husband and I were very excited! Mostly we focused in on a coop grocery, commissary like, along with a meat market. We have always said we wished we had more grocery options around. Walmart, Meijer and Aldi are closest, but are also the only choices unless traveling an additional 10 minutes north, making a grocery trip 20 min commute one way for us. So when are these announced new stores coming? According to the local paper businesses were scheduled for Spring and early Summer openings. As we wait for these openings in the new buildings I find myself wondering why we have new buildings with so many existing empty storefronts.
