Evolution over Time

Time fades

By Meshack MuiaPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Change over time may appear to be a natural occurrence and not always cause for concern. However, we know that it all depends on the change and how different individuals perceive it. Change over time can involve people, places, environmental issues, and cultural perspectives, to name a few.

Certain eras in our history were viewed in a completely different light than they are now. Observing the progression of events over the last few decades, it is difficult to avoid the impression that something very fundamental has occurred in world history.

People used to be less complicated. It was said that things were simpler back then. Fun was easier, and life was easier. What could be easier than staring down at your phone now? People used to have control over how they spent their days. That is now handled by a notifications feed.

I recall growing up in our village. It was a lot of fun, and there were a lot of exciting things to do. We could swim in the river, slide in the mud, or simply relax on the beautiful white sand. It felt like a mini-beach, which was great fun. There are now swimming pools everywhere.

Things have certainly changed, as evidenced by the fact that we no longer use these items. Take a look at the things we used before their modern equivalent pushed them out of the way.

The address book

The use of paper products is one of the things that is rapidly fading. Address books, recipe cards, and phone books are just a few examples. But I remember when these were the only links we had to that information. And if you misplaced an important piece of paper, you couldn't call a friend or bake that cake. It's as simple as that.

Movies

I used to check the newspaper for movie times or call the theater to find out what movies were playing. Now that we have the internet, that is a thing of the past.

Magazines

I was a frequent buyer of magazines related to my interests, such as sports, news, gossip, F1 racing, and so on. I kept them all for a long time and read them all over again. Nothing piqued my interest more than a new feature on one of my favorite celebrities. There are now only a few left.

Physically requesting a ride

to get someone to agree to take you anywhere more than a ten-minute drive away. Standing in taxi lanes is thankfully no longer the only option in ride-hailing, and we are no longer forced to haggle over prices .Thank goodness for apps like iOS and Android, as well as their convenient options, whether you want a private sedan, a private taxi, a sedan, or even a private SUV. Now I'm less stressed and much more at ease.

Music

Back in the day, if I wanted to listen to a song, I had to select the record, remove it from its sleeve, place it on the turntable, and place the needle on it. Now that I have mp3 players like the iPod, I can keep my entire music collection at my fingertips.

Video games

I remember when Pac-Man and Space Invaders seemed like the future of video games. The graphics in video games nowadays are so good that they almost look real.

VCR

Having film in my own living room was enough to make VCRs seem like the best thing since sliced bread back in the day. Nowadays, it's all about DVDs, 4K HDR, and Blu-Rays. Much better quality

Some things were definitely more difficult before, now that we think about it. Thank goodness they are now a thing of the past.
