Where The Pied Piper Took The Children

My First Drabble - One Hundred Words

By Mike Singleton 💜 Mikeydred Published 9 months ago 1 min read
A Nightcafe Creation By The Author

The adults laughed as they refused to pay the Pied Piper for ridding their village of rats, but were angry when he piped away their children through his magic portal.

They were not bothered that the children had gone, but were mad that something they regarded as something they owned had been taken away. The village had never been happy.

The music of The Pied Piper told the children they would be appreciated and loved, not continually admonished and scolded as they had been in the village.

That is why the children followed him and left their old lives behind.

  • Parents & adults of every stripe take heed & beware! Flipping the moral of Pinocchio on its head. Love it, Mike!

  • Oh but would the children be taken care of properly? Loved your drabble!

I love the Pied Piper tale (having done a couple takes on it myself on here, one in poem form and one in story form). However, this is the most positive message I have ever seen from a twist on the original tale, and I think that’s something we all need right now. Nicely done!

What a creative take on an old fairy tale. Great job.

  • This is awesome. How often have we humans followed the pied piper to greener pastures only to find out we were already living in greener pastures. I had forgotten about this song drinking my coffee reading about the pied piper like remnents of the past fall by the wayside 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
