An Ending

By Mike Singleton 💜 Mikeydred Published about a year ago 1 min read

Is this all that is left?

I walk alone, the world is grey and covered in ash. It blows and clogs my throat making me cough.

This is a place where hope has died. There are none left, just me, and I have no real skills. I think I see people, but they are shadows and ghosts, they appear when I get desperate and disappear when I get close. I am truly alone, a real-life Omega Man.

I looked for food and managed to find a decimated shop and looted a few chocolate bars and bags of crisps and two cans of soda.

This will keep me going, but I don't know where I am going, and how long I will last.

Will I meet others?

Will I starve?

I need to find shelter, the rain has come and the wind is freezing. I don;t think I have more than a few days left.

If I had a reason to keep on, i would, but there is nothing but ruins, nothing lives, hope is gone.

I do not know if the sun will rise for me tomorrow.

I will find somewhere to rest and know that tonight, tomorrow or the day after the last man on earth will be no more and will become part of the dust in the ruins of a dead world.

Whoa, this makes us really ponder on the future and whether we're doing this to ourselves now. Well expressed.

These stories are kind of fun to read at times especially when they wonder around stores and other places and make various comments like if at a grocery store, they say 'I wonder if they take credit.' or something like that.
