“Package moves in sixty!”

The voices sounded a click away.

“You’re alright. Cracked ribs, some hypoxia–nothing major. Shocking for a fall down the garbage shoot.”

Gunnarsson’s eyes burst open as the medic injected the adrenaline. She stood silhouetted by LEDs bright as solar flares.

“Injecting Nanobots.”

Instantly, his chest burned as machines assaulted his damaged cells. Gunnarsson strained against the pain, which ceased with a third injection.

“Get him moving. We’re heading topside,” her director said, moving on to the next casualty.

A glass tank stood at the chamber’s center.

“Stay back!”

Gunnarsson refused the order and approached the specimen.
