Micky loved Lego people. He'd tell you they were Protectors of the Universe. Bank robber, police dog, rugby player: Micky knew that if he placed them on his windowsills, he would be safe.

"What's Micky doing?" Nana asked.

"I'm keeping us safe, Nana!" Micky could answer himself. "From aliens!"

"Funny boy," Nana murmured.

Next morning, two lawns had scorched circles, like something hot had landed there. Mr Strangeman at Number 22 had disappeared.

As Micky stood in the circle outside his house, he knew the Lego people had saved him.

If only Mr Strangeman had some Lego, Micky thought.

🌙💖 Good night, love... This silence of the night, and the moonlight— Everything reminds me of you. I only want one thing before going to sleep… Your words, “Good night, Rami, I love you…” 💌 You are here, that’s why the nights are so peaceful. You are not in my mind—even dreams speak. 🫶 Even on the night of love, my love for you remains awake. Good night, you are the moon of my heart. 🌝

The Protectors of the Universe" is a touching narrative that beautifully captures the innocence and imagination of childhood. Micky's belief in his Lego figures as guardians against his fears is both endearing and relatable. The story effectively illustrates how children often create their own methods of coping with the unknown, transforming ordinary objects into symbols of safety and comfort. This piece serves as a gentle reminder of the power of imagination and the simple ways we seek protection in our formative years.

Aw, Mickey is a brilliant wee guy and I love that idle innocence as a child looking at things and thinking they were part of it when they might not have been. Even if that undercurrent wasn't deliberate, it's definitely there. Lovely stuff, Chum! Poor Mr; Strangeman...though with a name like that...

Haha! Obviously, Nana! With a name like that though Mr. Strangeman sounds suspect, like maybe the aliens had good cause for picking him up. This was so charming, Rachel!

Micky or Mickey (last sentence) is certainly wise for his age. Love the Lego connection here, Rachel!
