The Owl Witch
A Mystery Inspired by βOwl Witch,β by Natasa Ilincic

Introduction
This was inspired by this amazing image by Natasa Ilincic that I found on The Enchanted Booklet here:
This is my take on the image, although I found this legend:
The music is "Witch" (ft. Alina Pash) by Apashe.
The Owl Witch
We were lost on the blasted heath when we saw a lightning-struck tree and a dwelling in the distance.
Then we saw a figure, floating. We thought it was a ghost or something, but as we looked, we saw it had an owl's face, claws holding eggs, but human feet.
What was it?
We were frightened and knew we should not have been there.
Did it mean us harm, or was it a warning of danger?
We turned and ran and eventually found our way back to the village.
An old man told us we had seen the Owl Witch and told us that she rescued the lost eggs of all birds on the moor, and was a kindly soul who only did good. If we had asked for directions, the Owl Witch would have shown us the right way.
That made us happy to know there was a kindly spirit that wandered the moor and looked out for those who needed help, if only they would ask.
We would leave the Owl Witch in peace, but if we saw her again on the moor, we would not fear her.

Nice little story, Mike
I like that you decide to make the Owl Witch good instead of evil. La Lechuza from the link you posted seems to be a vengeful bruja, but your witch does good for the community and the ecosystem. It's a nice little fable that you could expand into a complete story if you wanted to. Nicely done.
What a cool story to teach that appearances can be deceiving and one may need to ask questions to get to the truth. Good job.
I love that you take inspiration from pictures you see. And I love the concept you've come up with. Great idea! The idea of something rescuing abandoned eggs is lovely.
Mike, is this going to be another book. The owl witch sound very mysterious.
I love witches and owls but that depiction of owl witch seemed scary to me. But I'm happy that she's not evil. I've never heard of La Lechuza so that was fascinating. Loved your story!
