The Grey Bus

A Journey

A Nightcafe Creation By The Author

He was waiting ages for a bus, looked at his watch, and thought he had missed the last bus, or it had been cancelled. It was dark and foggy, with a hint of mist and rain. Maybe it was low cloud, he didn't know.

He was about to start walking, and he heard an engine. It was his bus, well, not his bus, it wasn't red, it was grey, but maybe that was just the fog, it was a bus going in his direction.

The bus stopped, he got on, flashed his pass to the driver, but he couldn't really see the driver, he was shadowy, ghostly and seemed to be made of threads.

He got on and sat down, he was the only passenger. He looked out the window to see where he was going, but they were so filthy he couldn't see a thing.

Then he felt a sting in his leg, followed by his arms and back. He looked down and threads from the seat were entering his flesh. He tried to scream, but he couldn't; he was paralysed. He tried to move, but he could not. He looked and saw his body disappearing under the seat's threads.

He was being eaten alive by the bus seat and now realised why he was the only passenger on the bus, he was probably not the first (or last) on to be consumed by this thing.

When his body was consumed, he became part of the bus, aware of what was happening but unable to do anything, and when the next passenger boarded, he wanted to scream a warning, but he now had no voice and could not scream.

All he could do, when the passenger sat down, was tothread his tendrils and bring the passenger into the body of the bus ...

Ah, the risks we all take with public transport.

  • Oh wow, a monster bus! That was so cool!

That was terrifying! Who only knows how many others fell victim to this monstrous bus!

This was creepy, in a good way. Sometimes I take a bus and I’m the only passenger. I am pretty sure next time I’ll be thinking about this story.

So spooky and the music too! Excellent. Creepy idea for the bus and now who will ever want to ride one? 😳

A lesson in always paying attention to your surroundings, no matter what. Creepy, Mike.
