Hearts of Hell: Abandoned
There weren’t always dragons in the valley, not since the Powers of Great fell in the hands of the North, leaving the Valley a cursed place for the Abandoned. They will not believe him I recited to myself over and over again, trying to calm my nerves. Unsure if the bile rising in my throat was from the fear of the deal about to be made, or the pungent smell coming from the drunkards who sat near.

The Uloralie Plains
"There weren’t always dragons in the valley," Eothyn says gently, closing his eyes in thought. "My father – our father, told me so often and so fondly about his travels along what used to be called the Uloralie Plains." He points out through the trees and brush, giving way to a sheer drop off the mountainside the four friends are perched upon. They overlook onto pale green rolling hills and in the far, misty distance, remains a blackened site of ill repute. A line, in essence, a border, stretching easily from one side of the plains to the other and much further beyond.

Longing Call
I’ve always been in love with my close friend Sarah. Ever since we were friends in high school, I’ve felt this way. Her gentle smile, her delightful laugh, just everything about her. I knew I was in love with her – I always looked forward to attending school, I always hoped that the notifications on my phone were from her, and I admittedly got jealous when other guys made moves on her or got too comfortable around her. But I knew that for her, friends were all we were. No more feelings were attached, and quite frankly, I was okay with that as well. We spent a lot of time together – we were the iconic duo at school, and people knew as such. We finished each other’s sentences, went wherever the other went, and we knew what the other was thinking without saying a single word. And this was how it was – just the closest of friends, struggling through high school and life.

Do You Believe in Dragons?
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Growing up in a low-income housing project in New York City as a young Asian-Hispanic kid, the thought of dragons within my neighborhood was as foreign as the combination of my ethnicity. Yet my Asian father, Yiu Hon, always expressed great patience in explaining to my mom, Patricia and me the importance and benevolence of dragons. It did not matter to Yiu Hon that few residents in our neighborhood understood the importance of dragons.

Beautiful Burns
" There weren't always dragons in the valley, no darkness ever blinded my view, my heart yearned to be burned in the flames, a fire started by you...". Asya sang in a semi-sweet, water-logged voice from behind the translucent blue shower curtain. She closed her eyes and allowed the hard water of the shower to hit her face and distort the sounds of the words coming from her plum-shaded, full lips. She really enjoyed her long showers although her grandparents would often get on her about “taking entirely too damn long and using up all the hot water in there.” She didn’t care one bit about that though, she loved being in the water and often fantasized about being some fairy creature, blissfully bathing under an enchanted moonlit waterfall somewhere in the woods. She often got lost in her imagination like that and would sometimes spend an hour or more just standing in the tub pretending to be anywhere but there. She bobbed her head back & forth and used the soap as a microphone while serenading the rusty old shower head on the wall with her raspy vocals and nude performance. She knew she was not much of a singer, but that didn't stop her from singing at the top of her lungs when she thought no one was around. By this point her long locks of black hair had become a tangled mass of soapsuds and bubbles that started to leak down her long eyelashes and eventually into her large brown eyes. She painstakingly tried to wipe the soap from her eyes while fiddling around the sudsy smooth tiles of the wall to find the shower knob. Had it not been for the metal guard rail on the shower wall her Grandpa installed earlier that year, Asya would have slipped on all that soap and surely bust her ass in the shower by now.

An Arrival of Dragons
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. They arrived suddenly, one fine summer day, quite without warning. Just one, at first. A small, yellow creature, hardly bigger than the tom cat that hissed as it darted away behind the bales of hay in the barn. The cat glared from the dark, its golden eyes gleaming portentously.

Tadres
Chapter 1 There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. It’s only been the last twenty years or so that they’ve inhabited it again. The dragons came from far in the North where the cold keeps all other living beings at bay. They hid away from humans for thousands of years, not wanting to watch the world of man kill each other off.

The girl with the Dragon in the Future
There weren't always dragons in the Valley and in 2010 I thought the mystical creatures were far from true or even real from that matter. I’ve always been fascinated about Dragons and how cool it would be to actually ride one in the sky like Hiccup did you know? from How to Train Your Dragon. Having them be your pet and friend also while helping you fight the enemies trying to take over your land type of stuff.
