Dave's Wish
Bethan I want to know what she means by "photos" but I don't feel like I can quiz her when she's so distressed although I know that it will rankle me until I get the chance. Did she send photos to someone else? There were other things too I wanted to know and not just about what else was on the film. What about her life? I need details. Was my husband leading a double life? I think she knows.

Assessing the Damages
The next few hours and the day after the day after the storm were mostly spent making calls, watching the news, and trying to support each other and the community. Helen was pleased that her trailer survived the storm, but she was completely without power. Still, she was glad to go home. She made some Amish life jokes before I left her there to clean up and figure out her next move. Fig hadn't called yet and I was trying not to panic about that.

Temple of the Dog. Content Warning.
David is still sleeping and the neighbor's cat is dead. We share the same blank stare reserved for apathy and the afterlife. My staff meeting started twenty minutes ago and my hair hasn't seen shampoo in days. I skipped my shower anyway, chewed my aspirin. I left you seven voicemails full of hopeless heavy breath. I'm sure you know my number. I'm not always quiet.

The Call of the Mysterious Fog
That night, the fog moved quickly, shrouding Dharapur, a small settlement, in a spooky calm. Although fog frequently rolled in from the neighboring river, this particular fog was peculiar. It was heavier, colder, and had an uncomfortable weight. Once the first wisp of it appeared slithering between the trees, nobody dared to go outside. They had been told tales about it by the elders, tales of those who went forth and never came back.
