Coquí: Let Me Sing a Song for You

Disconnected
There is a land of paradise that exists beyond where a human could ever perceive. If humans were aware of its existence, they would declare it ‘heaven’ but in reality, this place is simply a collective consciousness. This consciousness is made up of billions of individual fractions and each fraction is alight, glowing in a state of pure bliss eternally as though perpetually bathing in a lake of love. Apart from this state in which they live, those consciousnesses are not so different from you and I or from any human on Earth today.

Separate Worlds
Fires raged in every direction, buildings that had still managed to survive on there foundations crumbled here and there finally succumbing to the destruction, unfortunate souls that had not been blessed to go right away laid on the streets crying from the pain they were experiencing; some were burnt so thoroughly it was hard to tell whether they were male or female, other bodies were contorted in such unimaginable positions that if anyone had been around to see they would have wondered for a brief second why the poor souls didn’t put themselves out their misery and then without second thought putting the poor souls out there misery, and why still others had lost so much blood from the extensive wounds they had occurred they laid on the ground rambling stuck between a state of life and death.

Grim Reaper #122: Mara James
I walked quietly through the hospital halls. Even my footsteps were silent against the linoleum floors. My pace was brisk and with a purpose in mind. My only purpose. I was here to do one thing and that was it. My only job. Counting the room numbers as I walked they slowly counted up. 1302. 1304. 1306. 1308. Stopping I looked down at the small piece of paper in my hand and read the room number stamped onto it below coordinates.

The Falling of the Stars
In the beginning there was darkness, chaos and evil. The Craz roamed the darkness in their true form with greed and mischief and ate away at the very essence of potential life that might have emerged otherwise. This was the before times, before a new humanity, water, fire, air and earth.

A Last Act of Defiance
The smell of sulfur saturated the air. The putrid fumes filled my lungs making it difficult to breath. Every step up the porous, black slope presented the promise of ultimate exhaustion. I refused to wipe my brow for fear that the stinging muddy concoction of ash and sweat would fill my eyes blinding me from the dangers that spewed forth from within the surrounding darkness. Sending the Illume Orb twenty feet or so behind me every few minutes ensured that I would not be surprised by a would-be-assassin, stalking from the shadows preparing to slip one of their 9-inch-long poisoned blades in between the shale-like armor protecting my torso. The bright glowing orb floated over the bodies of those that had already attempted to kill me, serving as a tiresome reminder of things to come. Oddly shaped forms covered in a blue, gooey substance that once gave them life.

The Monsters We Are
Entering any populated area, whether it be a quaint town or fully-industrialized city, always put Thorn on edge. This time was no different. He was never wanted nor trusted for both his skin color and his nature. Humans had never been comfortable around werewolves such as him, and being half-Navajo certainly didn’t help.
