Full Moon Transformation
I huddled on the straw in the cold barn in fetal position. It was the full moon, the time of transformation. My greed and desire for love had created my own awkward and somewhat painful metamorphosis. Love gone wrong had become a self inflicted curse. The nature and power of my own forces betraying me, had drawn me into the darkness of this once a month spell. I would lie upon the golden palette in my infant like state. I watched my fingers turn into talons. The hair on my skin altered into soft plush down. Feathers evolved where there had once been appendages. My eyes would dilate and my neck vertebrae loosen to facilitate the new nearly 360 degree rotation. My voice was lost except for the who, whooing of its new short and deepened tone. I flew up to the rafters where there was an opening and I could begin my quest for food. The changing of my body from human form to animal had made me ravenous. I would remain in this state until the next full moon when I again would articulate a change back into my being as a human. Human, they say, as if it is some great thing! I was a more gentle, kinder creature as a barn owl than I was as the human body I inhabited on a part time basis.

Flight of the Owl
Idahol followed her master through the labyrinth of black trees lit only by a hint of moonlight. She felt the cool night air on whatever skin that wasn’t covered by the simple brown tunic that hung to her knees which she cinched at the waist with her sword belt. In the distance, she heard the hoot of an owl ring out to any creature within hearing distance. The sound mixed with the soft crunching of leaves and twigs underfoot as she walked. Each step onto the layers of dead leaves kicked up more of the earthy smell which permeated the forest.

Memoir of The Last
“A…Noldorin elf?” Nash was more astonished by how the woman looked rather than what rare blood flowed through her veins. He had never seen a creature with such alluring, shimmering emerald eyes before––not to mention one of them looked cool to him with the scar over the blind eye. He was curious about the story about it. And how odd her ears were, indeed. Once he regained his state of mind, Nash forced himself to stop staring at her. “I never heard of that kind of elf before.”

The Feeling of Flight
Now, normally, when your sibling tells you that you can fly and dares you to jump off the roof of the barn, you one hundred percent should not attempt to do that (and if your sibling tells you this, just say NO). However, I trusted my brother completely, so when he told me I had the ability to fly, I believed him.
