Regency Academic School (RAS) in Vernon, New Jersey
Johanna, Carmen, and Antonio would go to the Jersey Shore and soak up the sun; however, RAS took the opportunity away. They were on their way to their new high school for a summer retreat on June 27, 2016. Vernon is one of the few places in Sussex County to have civilization, Johanna thought as Daisy drove for about two hours with him and his friends in the back seats. The teens saw neighboring towns with farmlands of nothingness. Not many chain restaurants existed for the three to recognize from Jersey City. The wind was the town's loudest voice they could hear.

Coming Clean
Dear Momma, There has been a secret that I have been keeping from you. Something that has been weighing on me for some time. About 2 years ago I was sucked through a portal. That portal led to a world filled with magic, dragons, elves, and many other kinds of creatures and people. This world had humans like ours but their technology was hundreds of years behind ours. However, with the help of their magic, they can accomplish the same things we can. While there, I met many different kinds of people. Such as people that were half human and half animal (beast people), elves, dragons, dwarfs, and even fairies, small creatures who guarded the Great Forest.

Valley of Dragons
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. In fact, I doubt a dragon had ever set foot, or claw, in Salt Lake Valley before today. Now, as I gazed out at the city below, I saw the outlines of winged creatures scaling buildings and harassing morning commuters. And it was all my fault.

Oathbreaker
‘There weren’t always dragons in the Valley.’ Those words would spend many years haunting me. There are times in the world where destiny announces itself with a mighty roar of challenge and others with the softest of whispers. My doom was written in the throwaway words of a vagrant, on the eve of my manhood.

Half a Soul
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Their coming changed everything. No longer did the Chakha send out parties to hunt hares or graze cattle. They did not separate into nomadic groups to wander the steppe beneath the Uul peaks or take their rites in the icy waters of the lakes that lay beneath them, reflecting rock faces back into the sky. Neither the sun nor the moon guided them because the Chakha did not move beneath their light.

MYSTICAL DRAGONS
There weren't always dragons in the valley. Dragons didn't appear until a few years ago according to legend. Stories told of their fiery breath that blew across the sky sending waves of red, blue, yellow, and black against the stars late at night. Golden flames danced during the daylight as if they were dancing the tango with the sun.

The Dragon Farmer
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Until my grandfather brought them down from the mountains with the ambition to start the worlds first free-range dragon farm, no one in Terracini Valley had ever tasted dragon meat let alone seen one up close. Nowadays, you can find dragon meat in almost every pantry in the world. Who doesn’t recall their grandmothers recipe for minced dragon pie? Or that all-too-controversial pizza topping of dragon liver? And I know it’s not just my family where it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without a Dragon Loaf at the center of the feast table - complete with mashed potatoes, corn, and lingonberry sauce on the side.

A Thief In My Garden
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. I was the first, and the best. The best dragon gardener, that is. My carrots are the sweetest, my zucchini the tenderest, my blue potatoes the most succulent. No other dragon can match my expertise in the garden.
