Welcome to Mantra!
Still free-falling and screaming, Stefanie, Milo, and Palomar rubbed their eyes from a blinding light, revealing a land more colorful than back home. Suddenly, a giant purple bubble engulfed them inside safely. The group took in a deep breath as a sign of relief. They knew they were far from home. Each one looked around to take in the scenic views of the vibrant place while riding in their new transportation. The roaring, sandy hills glistened from a distant north; the vast, gentle sea echoed from the east with three small islands; and the multicolored fields would never be ignored from its shimmer in the west. The whimsical landscapes amazed the teens.

Unveil
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Some live in the Big Apple because it was a bit easier to be incognito. However, not all dragons can handle the area’s congestion. My family and I used to live there before heading West. There was nothing wrong flying in the smog or clouds in the sky. We just needed to be careful of the many planes going in and out of NYC, that’s an example of congestion, I say. My mom got a huge opportunity to work in Silicon Valley as the Director of Nurses at Good Samaritan Hospital. How ironic, a dragon lady, working at Good Samaritan! We, dragon people, aren’t always good; sometimes, we need to show our scales. In secret, of course! Flying on a clear night is like the greatest freedom in the sky. It’s just the dragon, the air, and the stars. The one thing that kept my family and I good was my older sister, who got a full ride to Parsons and decided to stay there. She and I had great adventures together, but now, she has to live her own life. I still wish she was here.

Regency Academic School (RAS) in Vernon, New Jersey
Johanna, Carmen, and Antonio would go to the Jersey Shore and soak up the sun; however, RAS took the opportunity away. They were on their way to their new high school for a summer retreat on June 27, 2016. Vernon is one of the few places in Sussex County to have civilization, Johanna thought as Daisy drove for about two hours with him and his friends in the back seats. The teens saw neighboring towns with farmlands of nothingness. Not many chain restaurants existed for the three to recognize from Jersey City. The wind was the town's loudest voice they could hear.

Sudden News in Jersey City, New Jersey
Emmanuel Pierre gave his teenage daughter, Johanna, a wink that felt like they were pals or something. It did not apply on the basketball court in the park, though. Tall and lean with ebony hair, the girl hoped she could beat her dad from a tied score. She carefully examined the floor to see where she could shoot the ball while wiping the sweat from her mocha-skin forehead. Once she dribbled in reverse to make a hook shot, Johanna knew victory triumphed as the ball went in. Emmanuel realized her daughter could get an entire ride to college playing the sport. The hopeful father could write a sports article for Sports Illustrated about her future basketball star: Johanna Stefanie Pierre. They shook hands, drank their sports drinks, and packed their gear into the car. Their morning matches signified their long father-daughter bond since Johanna's dad taught her at a young age. Finally arriving home, the two were ready to rest in bed, enjoying the first day of Summer 2016.
