Mankind's Winged Protectors
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. For thousands of years the majestic beasts were hidden to the human eye, providing unseen protection. Only those with magic of their own born from a long line of powerful gypsies were aware of the dragons. Connected to them with magic, and the ability to communicate with them without a word spoken aloud.

The Secret of Valley Lumesa
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Once, dragons only existed in those regions of earth deemed uninhabitable by man. But as the human race dwindled, victims of their own biological warfare, the dragons began to migrate, eventually settling into Valley Lumesa, residing in the secret caves.

Flowers for the King
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. When the patterns of the wind, the currents of the air wafting out of the valley rode in their accustomed patterns, the fragrances of the lower elevations flowed down the broad sluggish river to the Southlands. No Highland dragons caught the scent of flocks of wooly sheep grazing in the fields or milk cows suckling their newborn calves or flowers blooming in the fields. Not when the world behaved as it ought.

Nest Egg
Nest Egg There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. But then, I hadn’t always voted democrat, and I hadn’t always owned a struggling B&B, either. Once solid evidence came out in the form of it flying directly over the town, there was talk of testing the dragon’s durability with a small strategic strike, which explains my most recent political leanings. A battalion was deployed to deal with the dragon, but after a tense standoff, the military retreated, and the dragon was still there. The army came to the valley two more times and abandoned the field to the dragon at least as many times. The hearings that followed for the disgraced general’s went mostly ignored, especially when one dragon became more.

Age of Origins
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. No, the dragons first appeared in the Valley some hundred years ago when the Great Quake altered the terrain and disturbed their eon long slumber, thus awakening the first of the dread beasts. The death and destruction rendered by the drakes during the Dragon Age was dreadful. Whole villages were annihilated; the putrid smell of sulfer and burning flesh hanging in the air like a fog of death. The drakes were not judgmental in which villages they attacked; none were spared. Although some resisted and fought back against the devils, many just lived in fear of when their village would be next.

The Bloody consequence of confidence and arrogance
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. In fact, their age of unrelenting bloodshed slipped no farther than three decades. Nonetheless, the butchery and disarray ravaged through their wake reverberated for millennia. Mordecai’s father would warn him, and his brother, of that fiery era. An era when entire cities would glimmer pumpkin orange amongst the murky skies of midnight dusk. An era when those very cities would crumble to scorched ashes by the sun’s next rise. An era when the screams of thousands haunted the souls of the surviving few. Mordecai’s father warned him of that valley. The valley where the dragons came. The same valley where the dragons, eventually, went - and never came back. He counselled them on that valley’s morbid perils. The shifting stone, the souls which slipped into it, swallowed - cursed to never return. He warned them that, if they were to pass through it, they would certainly die.

The Return
There weren't always dragons in the valley. In fact, most of the time, it was a peaceful place. Decades could pass without incident, and such spans of uninterrupted peace were sure to create a false sense of complacency among the many villages that called the valley home. There was no rhyme nor reason to their periodic intrusion; their only constant remained the assuredness of their eventual return.

Great Feats of Beasts
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Once it was green, and to see it from the hills that surrounded the long, lush crevice, was to own understanding of the colour. When the dragons came, they began to alter the topography. Slowly, at first, by clearing trees that caused erosion, which encouraged mud slides, until eventually all the people of the Three Families understood it to be part of a larger plan.

War On Montis
War on Montis There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. The mountains around Montis were tightly packed, so the Valley wasn’t exactly a popular living area. So when word reached the city guard that a dragon had been spotted entering the Valley it sparked worry, but it wasn’t anything to cause a fuss. But, when a second sighting was brought to their attention within only three days, it had become an item of concern as the people of Montis became anxious. The 4 lords that presided over different branches of the militia: Survey, Battalion, Defense, and Research, advised the city lord to address the people and the threat. He, Lord Daniel, assured the people that the matter would be looked into and taken care of. Three teams were made to investigate the threat from the Survey Corps and The Battalion: Primer, Orien, and Flank teams. It should only take them about three hours to get to the rim of the Valley from the top, and once they get there, they need to be sure they are all in position.
