There weren't always dragons in the Valley. For thousands of years the majestic beasts were hidden to the human eye, providing unseen protection. Only those with magic of their own born from a long line of powerful gypsies were aware of the dragons. Connected to them with magic, and the ability to communicate with them without a word spoken aloud.
"How is this possible?" the elder, Andrade asked the group. Looking from one face to another around the large wooden table, one face looking more perplexed than the next. At the front of the table a wall of monitors playing the same cell phone video over and over, showing a bright red majestic beast take flight from a rooftop in Central London.
Andrade looked to the head of the table, Marcus rubbing his temples as if fighting a migraine, a look of frustration on his face. After what feels like ages, Marcus stands and says, "There's only one possible reason that this is happening, excuse me." Quickly he strides to the back of the room swinging the door open in anger.
Seven dragons, and seven lines of gypsies were spread around the world to provide protection from the most evil of all creatures.
A creature made of darkness, pain, and hate with an army of unseen demons which love to cause pain and suffering without being seen. The power of these creatures is that they whisper into the ears of those without gypsy blood, convincing them to do evil deeds for their own amusement. From simple bullies as children, to mass murderers, these creatures have spent hundreds of years causing chaos. The bigger the chaos they cause, the more their master grows in strength.
Combating these creatures, the dragons fly silently, striking, destroying them in a burst of invisible flame. Fire which feels like a slight warm moment, or in larger circumstances, causes a heat wave to those that don't see. Their gypsy caretakers are there for support and to protect the secret of the dragons, fighting a battle no one knows.
One such gypsy awoke with a start, the ground beneath her shaking the foundation of her cabin. Sienna pushes her hair out of her face, letting the long auburn locks fall over her head and down her back. It can't be an earthquake. She thinks as she crosses the room to the window. Peeling back the curtain she screams and falls backward as an emerald green eye looks back at her, the eye filling the greater portion of the window pane.
"Fern! You know I hate it when you do that!" Sienna says out loud as she stands to her feet. Fern, backs up from the window showing his long snake like body set upon four strong legs with hand like, talon adorned feet. His body is covered in scales of green, brown, and blue hues, like the color palette of the deepest forest. Fern bares his razor sharp teeth in a grin, as a guttural chuckle escapes his mouth.
A deep masculine voice fills Sienna's head as Fern communicates with her. There's a new guy in town that has evil intentions, but I can't find any of the demons hanging around him. It's as if he is pure evil himself. Fern's face turns to one of worry rather than the playfulness it was only moments before. Sienna's eyes turn dark as she has visions of what Fern has seen, a middle-aged man of average height, a little bit of a beer belly, but striking blue eyes, made brighter by very dark black, short cropped hair.
I'll check it out. Sienna responds mentally, as she sends a wave of calming vibrations through the air to Fern. Fern nods in thanks and takes off gracefully his outstretched wings glistening in the morning sun. Sienna never gets tired of that sight.
Standing at the windows of his loft apartment Thomas' eyes are blackened as he follows the sight of his dragon companion, Chaos, as he flies rapidly away from the city. Chaos is yelling, but heard only in Thomas's head. "They saw me, how did they see me? Where am I supposed to go? What are we going to do?"
"You're ok, we will figure it out. Go to the area of refuge in the Queen's Wood. You'll be safe there until I can find an escape plan." Thomas responds working hard to remain calm for them both. As he is talking to Chaos mentally, Thomas is typing rapidly in his cell phone.
Sienna's phone pings with a text as she walks into the coffee shop where she works. As she pulls it out of her pocket, she is stopped in her tracks before she can look at it, on the tv monitor in the shop is a newscaster with breaking news.... and a video of a bright red dragon in London.
"Have you seen this?" Sienna's coworker Chuck asks, "It's crazy, has to be like a hoax or something."
"Yeah, no way that's real" Sienna replies. Looking down at her phone there are now 10 text messages.
