March The Mad Scientist, The Lion And The Lamb
An Example Story For My March Challenge

March seemed to live an almost hermit-like existence, people didn't know him but knew his house with the strange statue conjunction on the gateposts of his mansion.
Those who knew him loved and respected him, but those who didn't ridiculed, mocked and even abused him.
Once he had been attacked and hospitalised, and when he faced his attacker in court, who had been drunk at the time, the man's defence was "It was March's fault, if he hadn't been there I wouldn't have attacked him". The judge ruled in favour of the defendant and sentenced March to a month of community service. The fact that the defendant was a corrupt policeman and friend of the judge had no bearing on the decision.
Incidentally soon after that, both the judge and the policemen were imprisoned for life after incriminating artefacts were found at their homes and on their phones and computers. They both pleaded innocence but their pleas were not believed. People did wonder how they could be so stupid to act like that, but the mystery was soon forgotten.
March did much good work and was a very successful inventor allowing him to live as he liked in his luxurious mansion. He often had people around but most thought he was a hermit, but the ones who loved and respected him enjoyed their time with him, so although publicly he shunned the spotlight, in the background his life was excellent.
Someone once asked him about the lion and the lamb on his gateposts as they seemed a combination at odds with each other.
This is what March told them:
"These are two sides of my personality. Although I don't make much noise I will not stand for any nonsense from people. Also if any of my friends are threatened or hurt, then on their behalf I will become a fierce lion to defend their good name and put the fear of god into their oppressors.
The other side of my personality is that if any of my friends are hurt or finding life difiicult I am there to hold them and give them comfort, like the lamb that you see"

Wonderful story! 👌
March is such a good person. So glad the police and judge went to prison. Loved your story so much!
I love the sentiment Mike. The best people are lambs and lions.
Great story Mike. Makes me think of my grandmother as she always said March roared in like a lion and crept out like a lamb.
Such a delightfully whimsical tale, Mike. I especially enjoyed the bit about the policeman & the judge.
