Life Becomes Liquid

Everyone had signed up willingly for the course. It was going to take four months and promised huge lifestyle benefits, including freedom from disease, and a hugely extended lifespan.

There was talk of immortality but they did not explain how that would come about, but freedom from disease and the physical effects of aging were huge selling points and the course was fully subscribed and thousands were on the waiting list.

There had been an odd stipulation that course attendees must have no living relatives or dependants, on the forms no next of kin was asked for.

When they were taken into the final and their fate was revealed, they wanted out, but the doors were locked. Massive contraptions were taking the people and removing their brains, before placing them into new mechanical bodies. This was going to be their immortality and this was not hidden from those who were going to become part of the next batch of robots.

There had been no indication of this and there was no reason given for why it was happening, but everyone on the course was being turned into an android. There was no indication that they would still be themselves in the new bodies. What had once been a group of individuals was now a pool of merged minds and thoughts.

Life had become liquid and minds flowed into each other and the individual was eradicated.

Where there had once been humanity was now a soulless android nation.
