Introduction
An Ekphrastic Tale Inspired By 'The Old Castle' by Walther Georgi, 1897, Shared By The Enchanted Booklet here:
The music is "The Old Castle" from Moussorgski's "Pictures At An Exhibition" by Emerson Lake and Palmer.
In The Old Castle
No one has lived in The Old Castle for centuries, but it is still standing. Water still flows at the fountain, which is adorned by a statue of a nymph or goddess.
The walls are cracked and moss-ridden, and plaster shards are scattered on the floors.
People say it is haunted, so it is seldom visited at night. Sometimes voices and moans have been heard, but that may just be birds that perch on the tower.
The Old Castle has stood for hundreds of years, and will likely stand for hundreds more, and it will certainly outlast you and me.

This feels like a defiance of Percy Shelley’s “Ozymandias”, which claims that nature eventually reclaims everything manmade. And the picture itself looks like it could be an illustration for H.P. Lovecraft’s short story “The Alchemist”. Well done on your little fable.
That castle sure gives off eerie vibes. Loved your story!
Good job and what a description of an old castle.
