Adventure

He had been given a treasure map, and it looked like a simple task to find where it was buried. Everyone laughed at him when he asked if anyone else wanted to come and share whatever he found with them.

So he set out alone and followed the path marked out on the map.

He did not know this area at all but trusted the map and his own, usually accurate sense of direction.

He climbed higher and higher, this hill felt more like a mountain.

He knew when he got close to the top the was a bridge to cross, but he was fine with that.

Well, he was fine with that until he saw the bridge, a rickety suspension bridge over a very deep ravine.

His vertigo started to kick in, but he knew that at the other end was the treasure that the map was leading him to.

As he moved along the bridge, he saw that the cables holding it were not in the best state of repair, and then one of the wooden slats split under his foot. He held on and stepped over but was worried that he might not be able to come back this way.

He did not know what the treasure was, or, for certain whether there was any treasure. As he got closer to the end the bridge was in a state of disintegration and six feet from the end it gave way under his weight.

Hi jumped and crawled onto the waiting ledge, feeling a little like Indiana Jones.

Pulling himself up he found the shrine that contained the treasure he had come for, a heart-shaped ruby the size of his fist. He put it into his rucksack. He had found the treasure and it was all his.

He now had to find a way back.

That would be another adventure.
