Adjustment Period

The "Zombie Apocalypse" had been far less traumatic than Hollywood had anticipated. No brains were being eaten. The "undead" simply walked silently among the living and did their part.

Three days after The Event, Dale was working among a mixed crowd, helping free survivors and non-survivors from the wreckage caused by the initial havoc. After attempting to free a squirming female crushed under a car wheel, he called out, “Can I get a hand over here?”

Covering his head against the hail of incoming, grisly projectiles, Dale suddenly realized some adjustments would need to be made.

Dana this was good, not at all what I expected of an apocalyptic series! Very clever! See you in part 2! 😜

  • Excellent work, I am using this as an example of how to use microfiction in my latest story.

I almost skipped because I saw a zombie, but I’m glad I didn’t. This was fun and funny, and I really enjoyed seeing a different interpretation of the zombie apocalypse that has so saturated our culture. A sequel would be awesome, btw! 😄

Ngl, it took me a minute to realize that he just had a bunch of hands thrown at him from the zombies. Zombies are just like multi-billion dollar corporations, there is no figure of speech with them. It's 100% literal 100% of the time.

This is *excellent*. I love the low-key jab you snuck in there about the over-hyped drama/trauma. This is a fun Zombie Apocalypse to visualize. #raininghands 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
