A Conversation

On Inclusion

An AI Jigsaw By The Author

We're so glad to have you here, you are going to be an absolutely perfect fit.

How do you know, I have so many faults.

What is a fault? What do you see as a fault? What defines a fault? We see "faults2 as just part of your character. They may be part of what makes you interesting.

But I am old, overweight, and forget things. I also make a lot of mistakes, you can't trust me to be a perfect fit.

Actually we can, it's like a jigsaw. Any piece in a jigsaw may think that it is an awkward shape, that cannot possibly fit with others, but every piece in a jigsaw is like that, but when they are all put together in the right way they become and perfect picture. Admittedly along the way, there may be frustrations, and you may think that these will never fit together, but in the end, they always do.

But why me? And why do you have such confidence in my ability to come in here and join with you?

Because you are you. We know that you want things to be better, we have seen how you support others, and we have seen how you are inclusive. Others have told us about you and, like many others, you will become part of us while remaining yourself. You will bring us things we have never had, and we will give and show you things that you have never had.

This sounds too good to be true, I am not special, or very different from others. Although in some ways I am, which is why I find it difficult to be with others. I always go off on a tangent, and do things differently. If everyone is going North I will go South to see what they are running from or what they have left behind. I will also check out East and West to see what they are missing. That attitude doesn't sit well with many, they see it as disruptive.

That is why you will be perfect with us, you will bring things to us that we have never had, you will show us things that we have missed, and you will be another treasure for us as we will be for you. For anything to work, things have to fit together. Any machine is the sum of its parts, and every part must work with its other parts, and the ultimate aim must be for everything to work together to reach its goals. Sometimes individuals may want to do things alone, and that is fine, but together we can often achieve so much more. We should look to achieve goals in every way we can, and together we will do that.

I have to thank you, I am finding all this something to look forward to. I am so glad that you see that I can bring things that can benefit everyone. So many times I have been pushed out, ignored, denigrated, and my work and creations trashed, so you can understand why I am still wary and a little unsure, but going step by step I am sure that we will be beneficial to each other.

We are so glad you are here, and going forward you will be here to help and welcome other new community friends. Together we will be good for all and that includes you. Together we will grow, together we will become amazing, and we will make this world a better place for us, and for everyone. Take our hand and let's step into our future.

Really liked the jigsaw puzzle analogy, Mike. Great job on a wonderful story

  • I'm so happy that you are able to see that although you're an awkwardly shaped jigsaw piece, you're all is what is needed to complete the puzzle! 🥰🥰🥰

  • Is it okay if I remain in the background, though? I always seem to do best from back there.

I loved this! I love the persistence in the voices reaching out and embracing the narrator with the idea that we are better together even if we do not always see eye to eye. This is a good and positive message. Lord knows this world is in greater need of it than ever.
