Word of the Day: 飯テロ
Meshitero - sending pictures of food to make someone hungry.
I have decided I am going to go on a "Jail diet" because when I was in jail I actually lost weight each time. I think the key to it was the times they served meals and also not having any snacks in between.
It is kind of like intermittent fasting but I am getting 3 meals a day.
Basically I start off breakfast at 5am. Yes, 5am. It sounds early but, I have even heard celebrities like Hugh Jackman talk about going on diets that involve getting up early to eat. I think there is something to it to not 'starving' yourself to allow your body to metabolize regularly and not in excess.
The meal in question though should be on the light side, with some sort of protein and fruit, though I am not going to restrict what I eat since in jail you eat like 4 cake slices a day and I still lost weight.
Next meal would be around 11am. Why not 12? Well, I think the jail wanted to maintain a 6 hour gap between the meals as dinner is rather early at 5pm.
The later meals usually consist, as I mentioned before. A square of cake, a square of bread. Some rice or potatoes, and a protein with either a salad or cooked vegetables.
How could I lose weight with eating so much carbs?! Well, as I said before, there is the timing of the meals, but I also think the portions.
We ate out of portion plates for those two meals. So really, as long as I keep to the portion plates, you can put whatever you want in the spots.

Also, that was the only time we were given juice or any sort of sugary drink. So, limiting sodas or drinks with calories to only 3 times a day is also the key here, I think. The rest of the time, you just got to drink water.
I think this is a pretty sustainable diet and not too restrictive so, I am looking forward to seeing results once I buy some of those trays! I don't currently have anything like them right now and I feel that is such a key component to it as well so. I really need them if I am going to take this seriously.
Now of course that is just the diet part but, I also did a lot of walking in there as well so, I think even light exercise every day will allow me to see results but of course if I plateau at some point, I just going to increase my activity somehow but I am not going to worry about it.
The first time I lost 20 lbs in 48 days. That might be sort of quick but I honestly think it is because I was not stress-eating and drinking coffee drinks all throughout the day or snacking. It was a stable diet and it allowed my body to actually calm down and metabolize correctly.
Now, when I got out I did put a bit back on because I wanted to binge a little but, I am thinking of keeping the schedule for the long term.
I'll let you guys here know how it goes and whether or not my theories are true. I am not going to go crazy with it because I genuinely want to see if simply changing my eating habits in this way will give me the same results.
If I lose weight, great. If I don't. Then I guess I need to eat more cake or something, haha!
