Wendy's is one of the most recognizable and popular fast food within the United States. With over 7,000 Wendy's locations worldwide, only 83% of those locations are in the United States. But did you know that each country has their own unique menu items?

While you might just be accustomed to American offerings like the Baconator and Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, international locations have a lot more to offer. So, let's go around the world and see what Wendy's menu items exist!

Onion Rings

Sadly, onion rings aren't an offering at Wendy's locations in the United States, but they are available in the Middle East and in New Zealand. It is said that Wendy's version of this classic offering is a whole onion covered in light, crispy batter.

While American locations have intermittently offered jalapenos, you have to go to outside of the country to find it on a permanent basis. Mexican locations offer a Bacon Jalapeno Melt, while Georgian locations offer a Crispy Jalapeno Burger. In both countries, you can enjoy versions of these sandwiches with a beef patty or a chicken patty.

Milkshakes

Wendy's is known for their classic frozen dessert, the Frosty. However, some international markets have taken frozen beverages a step up and have introduced flavored Frosty-based milkshakes. Mexican locations will mix Frosty base with a variety of flavors including blackberry, strawberry, banana, and mango. The most unique of them all is in Japan where you can get green tea flavor or azuki bean.

Poutine

Poutine is basically french fries smothered in gravy and cheese curds, but it's a beloved culinary icon in Canada. Similar to other international fast food chains, Wendy's offers poutine at Canadian locations. In fact, Wendy's has been rated as one of the best fast food chains to get poutine.

One of the more unique aspects of Wendy's pretty much everywhere you go is the fact that they offer scratch-made chili. A customizable version of their chili, cheese, and tortilla chips is available in other countries - similar to what American locations did with loaded queso fries. To go the extra mile, New Zealand locations also offer a Guacamole Crunch Bowl.

Teriyaki Burger

Where do I find it? Indonesia, Japan

Known as Wendy's First Kitchen in Japan, the chain followed suit from its competitor, McDonald's, and introduced a version of the teriyaki burger. The main difference between Japanese McDonald's and Wendy's is the latter is made with a beef patty, not a pork patty. Locations in Indonesia also offer teriyaki with the Teriyaki Beefanator.

In late 2023, select Middle Eastern countries were introduced to the Indonesian sandwich along with Teriyaki Loaded Fries.

Twisted Frosty

Where do I find it? Aruba, Canada, Chile, Georgia, Honduras, Kuwait, Mexico

American locations introduced the Twisted Frosty back in 2007, but it quickly left menus and has yet to return. However, the model has stuck in some international markets. In Mexico, you can still order a Twisted Frosty such as Oreo cookie, M&M's, or a vanilla and chocolate swirl. Georgian locations also offer a mixed berry, banana parfait, or strawberry parfait. Canada even offers a white chocolate strawberry Frosty.

Wild Rock Burger

Where do I find it? Japan

in 2017, Wendy's First Kitchen introduced a signature sandwich intended to be a low-carb version of a classic Wendy's burger. Unlike a traditional lettuce wrapped burger, the Wild Rock Burger allows you to enjoy a bun made out of two beef patties. In between the patties is lettuce, tomato, bacon, a fried egg, and tartar sauce. The fact that this menu item is still on Japanese menus, it must be a hit with those looking to enjoy a low-carb or gluten free option.

Rice Bowls

It's no secret that rice is a staple food item worldwide, especially in Asian and Latin American cultures. When Wendy's first opened locations in India, they introduced a beef-less menu with a number of chicken and vegetable sandwiches. Along with these offerings, there were a unique blend of rice bowls. At Filipino locations, you will find rice bowls such as Beefy Mushroom, Chipotle BBQ Beef, and Beef Chili.

If you go to the Middle East, you can find rice bowls such as Homestyle Chicken, Crispy Chicken, or Beef Rice.

Pizza

With so much pizza saturation in American markets, it's no wonder why Wendy's doesn't want to throw their name into the mix. However, Wendy's International saw the perfect opportunity in Georgia. In this country, you can choose between 15 signature pies that are about 13 inches in diameter. These signature flavors include margherita, vegetarian, four cheese, pepperoni, chicken and peppers, salami and mushroom, and more. There is even an American Pizza Dog and fries, which is a pizza topped with french fries, pepperoni, and jalapenos.

Pasta

Wendy's First Kitchen is at it again with a Japanese version of Americanized pastas. On Japanese menus you will find a classic spaghetti with meat sauce, carbonara, shrimp and avocado Genovese, and bacon and tomato sauce.

At locations in the Philippines, you can find a typical Filipino spaghetti topped with shredded cheese. At Indonesian locations, they have a similar spaghetti topped with cheese, as well as a Macaroni Melt N Cheese.

Fried Chicken & Chicken Wings

Where do I find it? Argentina, Aruba, Indonesia, Kuwait, Panama, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia

Putting aside that Wendy's founder, Dave Thomas, got his start at Kentucky Fried Chicken, this classic dish isn't something you find at American locations. Judging from internet reviews, it seems that each country has their own unique flavors and versions of fried chicken and wings. If you want to find boneless wings, you need to go to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, or Puerto Rico.

Expanded Coffee Menus

While American locations offer coffee items such as the Frosty Cream Cold Brew, European locations have discovered the desire for a more expanded coffee menu. If you are at a Wendy's in the United Kingdom, you can enjoy coffee beverages such as a latte, flat white, cappuccino, or mocha. In Georgia, you can enjoy those same items plus an espresso, americano, caramel macchiato, or a coffee with Bailey's Irish Cream.
