This restaurant has a cool island vibe that your going to want to consider
Tucson local restaurant review

Do you want to know were to eat next in Tucson? perhaps your getting tired of the same old. Or you want to know what restaurants to avoid. Wait until you hear about this one!
Walking towards the building, I felt like I was about to enter a Hawaiian Luau (party) literally. There is Tikis outside the building, and if you already guessed the restaurant is called Kon Tiki. It has a very cool Island vibe, with the lights dimmed and and awesome reggae music. This restaurant is quite unique if you ask me, there isn't even a window in that place, its very mellow, I love it. This restaurant closes at 1 am.
They are m0st known for their big spiked drinks. I ordered their Jungle bird, its actually served in a pineapple. Yes, you heard right, a pineapple! haha! It was more alcohol than pineapple but I can still taste the pineapple and a little bit of mango. It was nicely adorned, it even had a cherry on top, so cute. Lets just say with this drink you are sure to get your buzz on, and it is very delicious indeed. This drink is perfect for the summer, very refreshing actually. The price for this beautiful drink was $12. I believe its fair. this drink was a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
The next thing I ordered was a large fried calamari plate as an appetizer for $8. It was very disappointing. There is so many calamari pieces in that plate and that's great but they are so small that I tasted more fried than calamari. In this case the saying fits : Quality over quantity. If you open up the fried part it looks like a little tiny worm, that's how small they are. It also has little sweet fried chips underneath it all, I think they are just decoration because I don't see the purpose. However the the sauce they had on the side was very good, it made the dish much better. Unfortunately this appetizer is a 1.5 out of 5 stars.
The next dish is off the hook!! Literally off the hook, because its fish Tacos. The tacos are delicious, and just the right amount of spicy. They are very loaded, and crispy. They are topped off with a little cold slaw and tomato, and they have just the right amount of crunch. These tacos are not just healthy but delicious. I looked at the fish, it has real, quality fish, nothing unnatural, and super soft. Let me warn you though, they are super messy, get your napkins ready. I got a total of 3 tacos for $10 and I must say this plate is very much worth it and exceeds the price with their good quality and taste. Just like everything else in this restaurant the tacos are gorgeous. This one is getting a well earned 5 stars out of 5.
I wanted something for dessert too so I got a Banana split but its actually a drink. it had banana rum and Bacardi. I was not impressed, I didn't find anything special about this drink. It just looked and tasted like Kalua with whipped cream. I was hoping for something more interesting or with more sweetness. I would recommend adding a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It was only $7. This drink is a 1 out of 5 stars.
My waiter known as Freddy was most excellent, attending me at every moment I needed something and always checked up on me. So I have to say the customer service was excellent on his part. He was also very friendly and I got my order within good timing. Freddy gets a 5 out of 5 stars from me. For the most part everyone there seemed very friendly until I was rushed out by someone else in the restaurant twice one time 50 minutes before close. The second time I was waiting on my banana split drink and the same guy told me " This is the last warning". It was 40 minutes before close. My guess is he didn't know I was waiting on a drink?Given everything I experienced this restaurant is a 3.4 stars out of 5.
Well that is all for today, until next time Kon Tiki restaurant and Louge.
Enjoy your warm summer nights. Thank you for reading.
