Trip(s) to Italy (Travel from Home #2)
It all started with some pasta I wanted to try. So my next travel from home destination was Italy. I asked my BookCrossing group for recommendations and got so many! I ended up choosing two books from my To Be Read mountain. The first book has been on my TBR shelf for about twelve years now (it was on my friend’s Italy list in Goodreads) and the second is an audiobook I also got through BookCrossing and hadn’t even realized was set in Italy.

Home of the Rat-Trap
When I think of hometowns my mind always goes to the types of food that you can get there. Now, maybe I just have an unhealthy relationship with food...okay I probably do...but I'm pretty sure most will agree that when we think of a town that just gives us that hometown feeling, it's because it has some epic food!

Breakfast in Savannah
I have previously gushed about my love of minivacations and, as luck would have it, I recently had the pleasure of taking one. We went to Savannah, Georgia, the Hostess City of the South. I had passed through on a couple occasions over the years, but this was my first full deep dive. I’d seen the beautiful oaks with the contrastingly beautiful Spanish moss hanging from its branches and the strikingly varied architecture, but I’d never had a chance to really appreciate it in all its grandeur.

The Family Pizza Tour
There are two things every family enjoys. No matter who you are or where you come from, we all love a road trip and we all love pizza. This summer we decided to drive from our home in Saskatchewan to visit our families in South-Eastern Ontario. A 38 hour road trip, in a Yaris, with a nearly 3 year old who is full-on three-nager and a busy 6 year old boy.

My Late American Grandma Appeared to Me in a Bowl of Feijoada in Rio
There is an old saying that food bridges the gap between people, culture, and time. I have never found it to be more true than during my first trip to Rio de Janeiro and after my very first taste of feijoada. Feijoada can easily be considered as the history of Brazil in a bowl. I would soon come to realize how much of that history mirrored my own personal Coastal South Carolina culinary history.
