There’s something about the little things that make you appreciate life more than you normally would. When it comes to food, I know what I like and I know what I don’t like even if I haven’t tried something because it includes an ingredient that I’m not fond of.
I’m not a complicated person. I have my likes, dislikes, insecurities and dreams just like everyone else. Sometimes I can’t help but try some more complex dishes at restaurants every once and awhile, especially after watching cooking shows such as Chopped or Guys Grocery Games and imagining being in their positions making those creative masterpieces while food is the only thing on my mind, I’d much prefer something simple. Simple but delicious.
These small chocolate treats are one of my favorite holiday snacks that can be made year-round. They don’t take long to make and once they’re made, they won’t last cause of how addicting they are (and I’m especially know about this because when I make them, they do not last in my house along with every other treat). The creaminess of the chocolate combined with the crunch of the pretzel will definitely settle your sweet tooth and reminds me of dipping pretzels in Nutella because who doesn’t like chocolate and pretzels!
This treat is perfect for all ages and is even better to make with friends and family. It’s a great comfort food that doesn’t require much thought to make and it’s great for get togethers, family reunions, holidays, casual hangouts, parties, or night ins. You don’t even need to use silverware or share with others since they’re that good! And since they’re so small it makes it more tempting to eat more than one!
What you need:
1. Hershey’s Hugs (white chocolate stripes)
2. M&M’s (your choice of colors; pink and red for Valentine’s Day, red and green for Christmas, your favorite color, the possibilities are endless)
3. Pretzels (circle, square, holiday shapes, basically anything that you can put a kiss on that isn’t too big that after the kiss melts it isn’t touching the baking sheet so the process of transferring them to the freezer is easier)
Bake time: 3-4 minutes per pan (depending on how many you’re making)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (higher temperature = smaller bake time)
2. Unwrap Hershey kisses and put them along with the M&M’s in two separate bowls to save time later on
3. On a pan with a baking sheet or aluminum foil, arrange however many pretzels you want (you can have them touch or leave some space, if you let them touch you will most likely have to break some apart)
4. Place unwrapped Hershey kisses in middle of pretzels and bake for 3-4 minutes (Hershey kiss should be shiny and the tip shouldn’t be brown/burnt otherwise it makes it difficult to put the M&M on especially if the kiss isn’t melted enough but it still works, there’s really no wrong way since you’ll just be eating them anyway)
5. Take the pan out of the oven and put one M&M on each Hershey kiss and press them down
6. Leave them out to harden a bit so they aren’t gooey then put them in the freezer for 10-20 minutes (if you have room in your freezer you can slide the baking sheet/aluminum foil off the pan and onto a rack in the freezer straight after putting the M&M’s on and by the time you make another pan of treats the ones in the freezer should hard enough to be able to do step 7)
7. Transfer them to a container and keep in freezer (or if you prefer room temperature leave the container out)
8. Repeat steps 3-7 as many times as you want to get to your desired amount of chocolaty goodness
9. Enjoy!
