Puppy Chow
Over the holidays, I have made a lot of sweets. One of the most popular that I made was puppy chow. It was surprising to me, as I found myself sharing the recipe over and over, that there are a lot of people who have never eaten puppy chow or that have never even heard of it. Mostly older generations, it seems did not grow up with this treat, as I did. (Shocking, right?!) Since this is a recipe that I absolutely love making and eating, I've decided that is important to share it with anyone who may not know of its existence.

Why Buying Organic Is a Huge Waste of Money
I never understood the point of organic food. You can walk into a grocery store and you think, alright, it is now 2018, and eating healthy is supposed to be on the rise. That sh*t is good for you, so make use of it! (Not that it hasn’t ever been good for you, but it is an important factor that helps the environment and all that stuff, you know.) My own father had a phase he was going through at one point where he insisted my mother only buy organic vegetables because he would refuse to eat anything else, especially when he was preparing for a marathon because: healthy. And just like a pair of new shoes, you’re going to want to pay a little bit more to get more life out of them.

For the Love of Cheese!
Cheese is that one food that always seems to be capturing the world, crumb by crumb. Whether it’s melting some good old Cathedral City on toast, sipping some stilton from a broccoli soup, or spreading red Leicester all over your favourite crackers there always seems to be a way or a reason to enjoy a good cheese. Since the build-up to Christmas, there have been some rather exciting cheese flavours that have crept into the trends of early 2018 thanks to the Cheshire Cheese Company, and here’s the cheese that every dairy lover needs to try as the new year continues!

Coffee is Life
I began drinking coffee, in one form or another, at the age of thirteen. For me, it started out as French vanilla cappuccinos. These ridiculously sweet beverages appealed to the teenage version of me. They offered a nice energy boost from the sugar and the caffeine kept me going throughout the day.

Easiest Cookie Recipe on Earth
We've all been there. Minding our own business, when suddenly, the sweet tooth hits. It's likely that you're not going to want to get all the ingredients out to make a homemade cake or your famous chocolate chip cookie recipe that uses no less than 15 steps. Who has the time or energy for that? It's times like this when you need something simple and easy—and most importantly, tasty! I had searched and searched through recipes online, made changes to some, left out ingredients, etc, and nothing had seemed to be both easy to make and good enough to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. Then one day, when I wasn't even looking for it, the best recipe came to me (with the help of a friend)! The easiest cookie recipe I've come across was given to me by a friend in High School years ago and since then, it's become my go-to recipe. (And for good reason, too). The whole thing can be easily completed in no time!

Explore the Tastes of Buffalo
Whether you're native, a transplant or just visiting, it does not take very long to realize that Buffalo is an amazing town and hot spot for food. Foodies of all kinds would flourish here in the Queen city and they do. Purveyors of spirits, beer and all kinds of cocktails also do well. Buffalo and the western New York region are destination number one when it comes to world class restaurants and bars. Everyone knows Buffalo for the chicken wings, but they’re just a small part of our food scene. However, there is one problem and it is a good problem to have. There are so many options.

Vegan Peruvian Tallarines Verdes Recipe
When I first laid eyes on the fluorescent green beauty that is Tallarines Verdes, I was in the middle of my favorite Peruvian restaurant and terrified of what was before me. I had never seen such a green meal in my life! Especially on spaghetti. As a daring young kid, I decided to be brave and try this daunting meal. Best decision, ever.

Corn Is Dominating What You Eat
Would you believe me if I told you that you are 80 to 90 percent corn? Probably not, right? While this statement is not entirely true, it is worth clarifying that corn is a component of 80 to 90 percent of the foods we eat—whether it is labelled on the ingredients list or not. This was the main premise of King Corn, a 2007 indie documentary in which two Bostonian college grads learn this astonishing fact and set out for Iowa with the goal of growing their very own acre of corn. Their corn-planting experiment, which made for a very humourous, yet enlightening documentary, revealed how little these two guys from Boston (and likely most of us) know about the foods we eat every day. They also shed light on the extensive eventual destinations of the corn they grew. I’ve explored just a few of these revelations in greater depth: these are some of the many foods we regularly consume—that you may not have considered—containing corn.

The Weirdest Food Laws in the USA That Are Actually Real
Did you know you’ll probably pay a hefty fine if you buy a cold beer or a hot toddy for a moose in Fairbanks, AK? Ensuring the Last Frontier’s moose are teetotalers is just one of the weirdest food laws in the USA. We live in one of the most litigious countries in the world, so it makes sense that some of our food laws are downright odd, strange, and somewhat unnecessary. I’m really a burger and fries kind of diner myself, and I’m a pizza addict, so I’m rarely doing anything illegal at the table. You might be a bit more adventurous than I am, so here’s a baker’s dozen of some of the weirdest food laws in the USA—keep them in mind whenever you sally forth on a culinary adventure.
