Mise en Place
What a whirlwind couple weeks have flown by! This has been my first taste of culinary education and it's amazing thus far. For those who have attended culinary school, this week's title probably takes you back to the very beginning of your education. I have found out very quickly that the sentence "Prepare your Mise!" is a daily utterance from all teaching staff; this mantra must send many of you down memory lane. For those who neither work in the industry or speak French; 'Mise en Place' means 'everything in its place'.

9 Reasons You Should Never Eat at Chick-fil-A
Since the first New York location finally opened its doors on Thursday in the Syracuse area, I felt it was only fair to review this establishment. I am warning you all that live nearby before making the drive to this place. And if you live anywhere else where this food is always available, it's never too late...

Potato Soup from 'Better Homes and Gardens: The Ultimate Soups and Stews Book'
I made myself the baked potato soup from 'Better Homes and Gardens: The Ultimate Soups and Stews Book.' I got two russet potatoes and baked them in my oven to 425 degrees for 60 minutes. I had not known how to make a good baked potato before I tried this recipe. I cut the potatoes lengthwise. I left them in the fridge for a day, which resulted in black spots which I removed with a spoon. I smashed the potatoes with a fork, and threw out the potato skins. Then, I put the potatoes in my soup pot along with green onions and butter, to soften them.

The Health Benefits and Nutrients of Kale
Kale has grown to be one of my absolute favorite things to add to my daily routine. First, let me explain where kale comes from! Kale comes from the "Brassica Oleracea" family, otherwise known as the cabbage family. The leaves can be green or purple in color and have either a smooth or curly shape. The most common type of kale is called Curly kale or Scots kale, which has green and curly leaves and a hard, fibrous stem.

How to Make Restaurant Quality Crepes at Home
In order to make restaurant quality crepes at home, I use lactose free milk, three eggs, and flour. I beat the eggs into the one-cup all-purpose flour. Then I manage to use the frying pan to slide the crepe around until it is totally cooked on the bottom. I fry bacon to stuff my crepe with, specifically bacon and cheese. You can also use ham and cheese or Nutella, which I don’t have in the house, that can also be used as a filling. Crepes are a simple meal you can make at any time.

Low Calorie Parmesan Garlic Chicken & Mini Roasties Recipe
I'm not one of those people who love fruit, veg or any other healthy food at all. I honestly don't know how anybody fits in their 5 a day fruit and veg. I love to snack! I could eat a whole packet of biscuits or a large bag of Doritos in one sitting, maybe even both! It has never really bothered me as i have been lucky enough to get my mums genes where I don't seem to put any weight on. BUT since having two little babies you definitely get a lot of extra chunk in all the wrong places so now is the time for me to lose all this extra weight. Looking at me, you wouldn't really know as I'm good at hiding it by wearing the right clothes for my body shape but I'm not as confident as I used to be. Hopefully this dieting process will bring my mojo back and if you want to join me by getting healthier and bringing your confidence back too then please feel free! Also don't be afraid to send me your recipes that we can all try together too!

Cinnamon Sugar Muffins
I started making these to cure my sister's pregnancy cravings. Nearly three years later, they're still a hit. The muffins are moist with a crunchy cinnamon sugar topping. This recipe is great for beginners and does not require a fancy mixer or tools.
