Guac Dogs in Mexico
Seldom experiences rival this beach cuisine

I got married at the Grand Sunset Princess Resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico back in January 2016. One of the best experiences of the 2 week wedding/honeymoon was enjoying a guacamole hot dog on the beach at lunchtime. (Or "High Noon" as us Westerners like to say.)
Don't worry I wasn't high at the wedding. Sure, maybe a tiny bit drunk off Grey Goose vodka supplied by my soon-to-be brother-in-law, but that's it.
The ceremony was beautiful, and so was my bride. Her glow radiates from within her body, like a celestial aura. Unfortunately, I was too weak to carry her across the threshold. I may pretend to be Superman, but in reality I'm just a guy.
Anyway, here's the recipe:
1) Guacamole
Ingredients:
3 avocados - peeled, pitted, and mashed
1 lime, juiced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup diced onion
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
2 Roma (plum) tomatoes, diced
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 pinch ground cayenne pepper
Directions:
Mix ingredients in a large bowl.
2) Hot Dog on a Bun
Ingredients:
1 Wurst (that's German for sausage)
1 hot dog bun
Directions:
Place sausage the grill, set to medium or high heat. Grill to a minimum internal temperature of 170 degrees Fahrenheit. Presto! Barbecued hot dog on a bun; add guacamole. Enjoy!
So, I'm not really a master chef. I was a line cook at Moxie's Classic Grill in Kingston -- the town that I was born in.
When I wasn't washing dishes, I was in the kitchen. I cooked the appetizers, salads, and desserts. I actually really wanted to submit a recipe from Moxie's delicious menu for this article on "Travel Cuisine", but alas sampling of those fine foods has always been limited to my hometown.
The travelling came later. I would see the world -- or at least the Northwest hemisphere. I've been to Cuba too, but the food there is not quite as good.
I've seen the peaks of the Rocky Mountains in Banff, AB, and the top of the CN Tower in Toronto, ON. Both great.
These days I live in Alberta, Canada. My main hobbies include cycling, playing Magic the Gathering, and cooking dinner for my lovely family. Since I got married to Erin (the love of my life), we've had two adorable children -- a boy and a girl. Some say I have the million dollar family.
I'm struggling as a writer, and living in a small bungalow. Sometimes, it doesn't feel like I'm rich. Certainly not as a rich as Moxie's deep fried banana Xango. Drizzled with caramel sauce, it's the perfect little treat.
So go ahead, and treat yourself. You deserve it.
Why? Because you're you. You're the best you you can be.
"You were number two, Cougar was number one. Cougar lost it. Turned in his wings." - Stinger in Top Gun.
I think about that a lot. Do I have what it takes to live a life of danger? I certainly don't want to orphan my kids, before I have had a chance to get to know them.
You know, I think that's why I prefer to stay at home and use my imagination. Casting the occasional magic spell.
"Fireball!" I shout, as an inferno rages from my inner power. No, I'm not a pyromaniac. I just like roasting marshmallows.
I almost forgot to mention that my wedding was at an all-inclusive resort. The beer tasted mighty sweet and refreshing, paired with those guac dogs. Travelling life is next to nothing, and I wouldn't trade this life for the world.
Speaking of the earth... is it flat or round? You want to hear a joke? The only thing "flat earthers" fear is sphere itself.
Ha! Drumroll, end on snare.
"Fear is the mind killer." - a quote from Frank Herbert's Dune.
