Arizona

Chimichangas originated in Tucson, Arizona. These are deep-fried tortillas filled with ingredients like shredded chicken, beef, rice, beans, onions, and cheese.
California
Carne Asada Fries is a dish originating in San Diego, California, It is an American-Mexican dish made with shoestring fries topped with carne asada cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. The sour cream and guacamole should be on opposite sides of the dish so they don’t mix.

Carna asada burritos also come from San Diego, This dish consists of large flour tortillas topped with carne asada meat, pico de gallo, and guacamole. The meat is usually a combination of beef, lemon juice, lime juice, salt , pepper, and onions. Other ingredients include tomatoes, jalapenos, cilantro, garlic powder, oregano, chili powder, and cumin. The guacamole is made with avocados, pico de gallo, lemon juice, lime juice, and a dash of hot sauce.
Florida

A Cuban sandwich is a grilled, pressed sandwich prepared with Cuban bread. It is filled with ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. Variations include tomatoes, lettuce, and mayonnaise.
Hawaii

Poke is a traditional Hawaiian dish prepared with small pieces of fresh and raw fish or seafood combined with finely chopped vegetables, herbs, condiments, and seasonings. Traditional poke usues alu tuna or octopus but can also use salmon, mussels, crabmeat, or oysters. Other typical ingredients added to this dish are sweet onions, garlic, shallots, scallions, sesame seeds, seaweed, soy sauce, honey, red pepper flakes and Hawaiian sea salt.
Illinois

Jibarito is a Puerto Rican sandwich that originated in Chicago, Illinois, The sandwich consist of smashed fried plantains instead of bread. In-between the plantains are garlic mayonnaise, meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese.

The Maxwell Street Polish sandwich also comes from Chicago. Grilled or fried Polish sausage is placed on a bun with grilled onions and yellow mustard.
Louisiana

Etouffee refers to a group of dishes from Cajun origins. They’re made with shellfish like shrimp or crawfish in a thick sauce. The sauce if made from white or brown roux and the dish is served over rice.

New Orleans-Style BBQ Shrimp is a dish that is made with large fresh shrimp with tails on, butter, lemon juice, hot sauce, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. The combination is cooked on the stove or baked.

Jambalaya is a delicious dish prepared with rice, shrimp, or crab meat, spicy smoked sausage, smoked ham, dice green peppers, garlic, celery, onions, tomatoes, thyme, and bay leaves.
Maine

The Italian sandwich originated in Portland, Maine. A long bread roll is filled with cheese, salami, mortadella, ham, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and olives.
Minnesota

The Juicy Lucy hamburger comes from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Two beef patties are fused together with American cheese in-between and fried up making for a delectable and juicy hamburger.
New York

Beef on Weck is a sandwich that originated in Buffalo, New York. The beef is placed on a kummelweck roll or weck for short. The roll is sprinkled with caraway seeds and coarse salt so the beef remains unseasoned. The beef is thinly sliced and must be slightly pink inside and topped with horseradish.

Reuben is a delectable sandwich that originated in Manhattan in New York City at the Reuben Delicatessen. The sandwich is made with thin sliced corned beef, piled on rye bread, along with sauerkraut, Russian dressing, and Swiss cheese.
Pennsylvania

Roast pork sandwiches originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A bread roll is topped with spoonfuls of pork juices and then stuffed with sliced roast pork slices, roast pork chunks, or pulled pork with broccoli rabe or spinach and melted cheese.

A Philly Cheesesteak sandwich is a Philadelphia icon, Thinly sliced rib eye steak with onions is placed on a hoagie roll and topped with Cheeze Wiz. Today other toppings can be added like sliced musrooms and sweet or hot peppers.
Tennessee

Hot chicken sandwiches come from Nashville, Tennessee. It is the city’s signature dish. Various cuts of chicken are used like breasts, thighs, or wings, Once the chicken is fried the meat is covered in cayenne pepper-based hot sauce. Additions to the sandwich are pickles, shredded lettuce, mayonnaise, or sour cream dressing.
Texas

Chili Con Carne comes from San Antonio, Texas. It is a meat-based stew that consists of finely chopped ground beef, hot chilies, and seasonings. Versions include tomatoes and beans.

Fajitas are a Tex-Mex dish. Grilled skirt steak is served on wheat flour tortillas. Before grilling the skirt steak is marinated in lime juice. Additions include lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream, The fajitas can also be filled with chicken, shrimp, or vegetables.
Washington

Dungeness crab cakes are a specialty of the US state of Washington. Dungeness crab comes from the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The crabmeat is combined with mayonnaise, red bell peppers, celery, onions, herbs, panko breadcrumbs, seasonings, and eggs. The mixture is shaped into round cakes and fried until golden and crispy.
