A Chef with an Unquenchable Love for Food

Food has always been such a passion in my life since I was at the young age of 5, while all the other children were watching Blues Clues and Dora the Explorer, I was watching Emeril Lagasse and Mario Batali on the Food Network. I yearn to create delicious pastas, breads, and so many other dishes.
My grandma was the first person to ever show me how to cook on the stove when I was just 7 years old, scrambled eggs was the first dish. From then on my grandma and I would share the recipes that we made up with each other. She would critique mine and I would do the same back, and she genuinely took me serious because she knew the passion I had to create food.
As I got older, I spent endless hours in the kitchen creating and testing out recipes that would just pop right into my head. I was honing my craft and I enjoyed every single moment of it; from perfecting the seasonings to improving my cooking techniques, I was having fun doing it all.
When I turned 18 and graduated from highschool, two months later I was on my way across the country to attend Le Cordon Bleu in California. I was so dedicated to making my passion for food and cooking a career, which I did. In culinary school is where I fell in love with knife skills, yes it sounds dangerous, but the beauty of dicing vegetables, with an immaculate knife, into the perfect size so that they all cook evenly is just breathtaking. Cooking is a science and every single element matters, from the equipment and utensils you use to the cooking technique and ingredients.
Once graduating Culinary School with an Associate's Degree, working in the food industry in various restaurants; I learned that I don't get to be as creative and expressive as I thought I would. I cooked other people's menus and perfected the dishes that they've created; while I love doing it, I felt my inspiration and passion dull. All until I got the bright idea of creating my own food blog, a place to share my unique love for food.
My blog allows me to express my love for food and cooking, while educating people on techniques and terms. The photo above is one of my very own recipes for Roasted Chicken ontop of a Potato Bacon Spinach Hash and a delicious pan sauce. I come up with recipes in my free time and perfect them until they're ready to share. Without having to be hindered from jobs where I’m making other people’s dream dishes, I can come home, create, and express my own love for food through my food blog. This gives me a chance to share my deep love for and my knowledge to other people.
My love for food has been deeply rooted in me for over twenty years now. My passion for cooking has become part of who I am, without a chef's knife I am lost. I love every aspect of food, especially having a passion that people can enjoy and feel the love with every spoonful. I feel blessed that I can create a delicious meal from a couple simple ingredients and share it with my family and friends. I love what I do and I love to watch other chefs love what they do; you can tell when someone loves their job, by tasting their food, listening to them speak, but more importantly watching them in the process of making it. A chef that loves what they will be smiling (not always on the outside) throughout while preparing your meal and in return you can taste the love and time it took to make it.
I want people to know how much I love food. It’s a type of therapy to me, whenever I am upset or emotional my first thought is to go into the kitchen and cook. I enjoy trying new dishes and becoming inspired to make a rendition of it. Cooking relieves stress faster than anything for me, when I’m at work and the tickets are flying in, I allowed my body to flow and my mind is at peace in such a beautiful chaos; that’s when I make the best dishes. I was always meant to be in the culinary industry, I couldn’t see myself anywhere else. Cooking is a beautiful thing, and I’m glad that my passion and career are one in the same.
