Two women built from strength, complete opposites in various ways. Learned from the greatest woman of all. The first set the amazing race, while the second followed pace. The first made unfortunate but necessary sacrifices so the second could use the prices.
Both women built from strength, courageous in uncanny lengths. While the second chases her dreams, the first sees the second as her dream.
Similar in name, not tamed, the first is a mother with hot blood pulsing in her veins passing it to the second, who’s her child, to not only carry on but to become more than she could fathom.
The first is my mom and I am the second, blessed to be kissed by the lips of a survivor, intellect, and a modern day superhero to my world.
This is a poem that was written about my mother and I, by myself, which explains how much of an impact my mother has had on my life.
My mother was in the Army Reserve and was sent overseas when I was at a very young age. I wasn't able to understand why she wasn't with me until I grew up, only to realize that she made immense sacrifices so that my siblings and I could have a great life. Through all the tragic things that she experienced in her time enduring the war, she came back and learned how to continue to be a loving, supportive mother at home.
She engraved in my brain that I was to let no one stop my dreams from coming true, and that will forever be instilled in me. I have become self motivated, independent, and willing to take risk to do what I love.
The one thing that my mom has blessed me with is continuously faith in me, and going out of her way to facilitated my career path. When it comes to my passion/career my mom never doubted me, or looked at me crazy for the ideas that I would come up with. She always let me know that she was going to be there for whatever the outcome may be.
With all that being said, there's way too many ways that my mom has been the definition of a mother, provider, and lover to me. She has sacrificed so that I could excel and my only wish is that I give her proof that she has raised a daughter that success was the only option.
