Plums are oval, fleshy and juicy fruits with a stone at the center. They belong to plants in Rosacea (a plant family).They are sweet and juicy with pleasant tart aftertaste. They have much more nutrients. Mature plum fruits may have a reddish-black waxy coating that gives them a gray-black appearance. This is an epicuticular wax coating and is known as "wax bloom".
Their dried form is called “prunes” having darker color and wrinkled appearance. They are sticky and chewy and have higher amounts of macronutrients, fibers, minerals, and calories than plums.

Plums are low in calories:
Plums contains lower calories. One quantity of it contains 30 calories but their dried form known as “prunes” contains 67 calories and all other minerals and vitamins for the same amount. But it also contains carbs, fibers, vitamins like A, C and some other elements like magnesium.

Sour plum comes in acidic fruits category and help body in detoxification. It contains plenty of vitamin c as well as a whole range of other vitamins and minerals.
1. Maintain Heart health:
Being full of antioxidants, plum maintains the health of our heart. It contains antioxidants that fight against free radicals and are anti-inflammatory, preventing heart diseases and strokes. Antioxidants prevent the oxidation of cholesterol hence helping in maintaining of heart health. They are known to contain high amount of polyphenol that is another strong anti-inflammatory agent.
2. Relief in constipation:
Plums contain sorbitol that has natural laxative quality, helps in relieve of constipation so improving digestion. Their dry form; prunes, contains much insoluble fiber that also keeps the bowel healthy. Prunes, to get relief of constipation and other digestive issues. Dried plums are more effective than psyllium; an oftenly used laxative.
3. Prevent form anemia:
Anemia is a condition in which the body has low quantity of red blood cells or less healthy red blood cells that area a major part of our blood. Iron helps in the production of RBCs. If there is enough iron there will be healthy no of RBCs present otherwise not. Juice of prunes is source of iron so maintaining iron amount in the body and hence there will be more RBCs that means no Anemia.

Eating plums will also improves the blood circulation. Blood disorders will be reduced in this way.
4. Down the cholesterol level:
High cholesterol is responsible for heart and blood pressure diseases. The fruit contains soluble fiber and some other ingredients, which helps in the reduction of cholesterol level and inhibits the production of liver cholesterol. The soluble fiber soaks up the bile, produced using cholesterol. So, when the bile is soaked up by the soluble fiber in the fruit, the liver uses body cholesterol, hence not producing its own cholesterol and lowering the cholesterol levels of the body. In this way it is helpful in prevention of heart diseases and blood pressure diseases.
5. Maintain Bone density:
Plums and prunes protect from bone loss and helps in recover of loss of bones. Plums contain boron, which is important for maintenance of bone’s density. This prevents from low bone density diseases like osteoporosis. The fruit is full of flavonoids and phenolic compounds, that prevents bone loss. Eating of prunes provide minerals, vitamins, some ions and few hormones that all are helpful in bone health.
6. Improve skin texture:
Having vitamin c, plums protect skin from sunlight and improve skin tone and are helpful in fight against acne. As plums eating keeps blood flow healthy hence helps in decrease of dark spots, marks. They improve collagen production that roles in texture of skin. It helps the skin to heal faster and replace damaged skin with new skin faster. Eating plums also improves skin elasticity. Consuming plum firms your skin and clears your texture of skin. The fruit decreases wrinkles and refreshes your skin. Drinking plum juice gives younger looking skin

Adrenal glands have much importance hormonal balance which affects the hair growth and loss. If the adrenal gland works properly it means good is the hormonal balance and hence there is less hair fall and better growth of hair. As reversing the adrenal gland fatigue, plums make it to work properly and hence hormonal balance is regulated and hence promising better hair growth and stopping hair fall.

It also promotes hair growth because of high quantity of iron and improves circulation of blood. Eating plums make you have thicker, stronger hair.
8. Boosts immunity:
Taking plums improves your immunity because it has vitamin c. Vitamin c increases fighting cells of body (lymphocytes) and phagocytes hence important fighting cells it increases. Thus we can say that they boost immunity. Vitamin c is also found in white blood cells.
9. Help in weight loss because of their low calorie quality:
Plums have low calories in them so are helpful for obese person to lose their weight. They have fibers, vitamins, etc. its fibers slow down digestion process and hence making food remain in stomach more time. So we do not feel hunger in this way for a longer time. Scientific studies shows that plum’s dried form have some compounds that help in weight loss and reduce the risk of heart diseases.
10. Lower the sugar level in blood:

They have high amount of carbs, despite this, they do not increase blood sugar. This is because they increase a hormone that regulates the blood sugar level. Its fibers also have positive effects on blood sugar level. This means plums eating is helpful against diabetes.

Eating plums regularly and properly is helpful in preventing many diseases but too much eating, I will must say, always has bad effects. It is not the plum that has so much benefits but for all natural gifts, I mean, nature made things e.g fruits, vegetables have benefits, some of them, may have much more for us than plums.
