Real Life Self Care
Self care is just as important if not more important when you become a mum. Happy mum, happy baby. Taking time for ourselves is vital to helping our children grow. So in an effort to share and spread the love we asked a real life mum some self care questions. Huge thank you to Michelle from Kent, United Kingdom for answering the first self care questionnaire for us. This is real life self care from a real mum.

“A Mother’s Apology”
Every morning the alarm would go off between five or six depending on sports schedules. I’d hear Mom rustling around the house in her robe and slippers, getting ready to wake my sister and I for school. It wasn’t an easy task as I never was one to willingly rise to the sun during those years. I had built a reputation in my family and I was almost convinced that they drew straws to determine who was to get me up. There was a good chance someone was gonna end up kicked, hit, or maybe even bit for disturbing my teenage slumber.

Psychology: why the more parents push their children the lazier they get? In fact, it triggers the "overload effect"
I have also heard of a way to quit the game addiction, that is, the child is locked in a room, must play enough time every day, the result is not long, many children can not stand, and even said never want to play the game again, this is actually the use of the "limit effect".

Children love to chew fingernails is the body lack of what?
When it comes to children chewing fingernails, the mother of the bun has endless worries. She told reporters that her daughter is 6 years old this year, looking at the upcoming elementary school, but all day and night as long as there is nothing, always see the child in chewing nails, if there are barbs on the fingers, will also bite and tear off, so that the hands often have wounds.

Ten Quotes From My Caribbean Mom That Might Change Your Life
I don't know if I was particularly close to my mom as a child, but somewhere in between my late teens and early twenties, she became one of my best friends. When I lived stateside, we'd sit with a bottle of wine and talk about any and everything. Our bond has only gotten stronger as I've become a mother despite the fact that I live in the Caribbean and she still lives in New York. It's almost ironic that both me and my sister have chosen to live/ raise families in our cultural home of Trinidad and Tobago—the place my mom fled in hopes of forging a better future for us in America.

The importance of baby sleep
All living creatures need sleep. Sleeping gives people and all living creatures the time for the body to recuperate and regenerate. Lion’s needs 16 to 18 hours of sleep, while primates, ten to twelve hours of sleep. Humans need on average six to eight hours sleep to rejuvenate. Human babies need a full eight hours of sleep and naps in between.

Dear Dr. Donna - Dilemma: Am I a Helicopter Parent?
Dear Dr. Donna, Earlier in the week I attended my 4th grader’s parent-teacher conference. I was happy to learn that the teacher is satisfied with both his classwork and his behavior. It seems, my son it not a problem, but rather, I am! The teacher accused me of being a “helicopter parent.” When I arrived home that night, stunned from her accusation, my husband just laughed and said, “Yeah, you are.” Still distraught, I asked my girlfriend about it the next day at lunch. While she was kinder and gentler in her response, she too confirmed that I am guilty as charged!

The Other Golden Rule
Small, but mighty she smiles, ready for this bold new step. Dwarfed by the towering urban jungle and tall legs of grown figures leading their young into the depths of this brave new world, the tiny kindergarten child peeks up into the eyes of her mother. The unwavering trust lays bare, reflected in the woman’s own cautious glance. Every guardian, in this moment, chooses their make or break words and actions.

My Report Card - Strived To Hard For Perfection
From kindergarten on to grade three, I was honestly the hardest person you could ever meet, all on myself. I had such great passions to learn, but most importantly I thrived to be the best, to win awards. To see the A+ on every report card.
