Consequences of Dependence
As far as I'm concerned, these past four years have been one of the worst years I've ever had to go through. I am 23 years old, and I am still being treated like a child, and rightfully so, as I live under their roof, and follow their rules. 2020 just happened to take the cake for just how much I want to jump in front of the nearest Bart train.

The story of the 28 yo guy that becomes a foster father of 9 kids at once.
My best friend here in the USA is Luis Jimenez, a twenty-eight years old Latino guy. He and his family are originally from Colombia, living in Philadelphia, PA. Two weeks ago, he received a call that no one expects to receive in life. Nine children of his uncle were referred to the Foster System after their mother overdosed on drugs. The children's mother was referred to a drug user rehab program and had an 18-24 month term to get rid of the addiction and have them back.

Minecraft and My 5 Year Old
I've been playing video games since I was young. I first picked up a controller at the age of 8 or 9, playing Mario 64 obsessively, but even before that I remember being in daycare and seeing someone play Pokemon for the very first time. I was fascinated; I was hooked. I had to have my own.

Single parent buying guide
I think most of us can agree that being a single parent is especially challenging during the holidays. Between shopping, working, and still doing everything else to maintain your life daily, it can be a stress financially and physically. The pandemic has added an extra layer of stress on top of just trying to make ends meet.

Holiday Magic is Actually Mom's Magic
If there are any people in the world who celebrate Christmas excessively, Filipinos quickly come to mind. After all, the Christmas season in the Philippines starts on September 1st and lasts until January 9th! Christmas songs can be heard from every street corner, at the mall, and on every radio station. Decorations go up in every household and commercial space. Everyone goes shopping at full throttle. Bibingka (a type of rice cake) and puto bumbong (a type of rice cake cooked in a bamboo tube) are sold from street stalls, which permeate the air with the scent of burning coconut husks and coal. Colorful parols (Christmas lanterns) line the streets and houses. Lights come alive in the metro. Debate aside, we Filipinos know how to celebrate the holiday season.

Single Parenting
I heard a lot of young women talk about how hard is to be a single parent, and yet they don’t want to hear from other parents to help them. What I’m about to share is to help other single parents understand that it is hard, but you are not alone, and getting help is not a weakness. I was young about 23-year-old when I had my son and his father promised to stay with us. One day, when we were watching a movie, he told me that he was going out to get some bread for sandwiches and he never returned. I was mad at first, but I was pregnant at the time and made a conscience effort not to have negative feelings towards the father and whomever else got on my nerves. It was hard too, because I was a single woman, a singer in the church who got pregnant out of wedlock and some people were angry. They did not want to hear me sing in church and they went to the pastor to voice this opinion to sit me down. However, the pastor got up on a Sunday morning and rebuked the people who came to him about me, saying " we are people that should forgive like God wants us to forgive instead of condemning the young women, but to embrace her because that is the reason why she went outside church to find love because she couldn't find none is here this church" and he continued saying that he was embarrassed by the lack of love some people have displayed regarding this young women. Then, he preached about forgiveness and the fruit of the spirit. There was no one who said anything that day. Anyway, some of them appeached me with bad comments that I will not mention in this story. I will talk about a memory that I remember to this day that happened to me about one elderly woman who came to me when I was sitting outside the church getting some air. She mocked by saying “ha, ha, that’s what you get” and she physically poked my chest several times as she continued making the statement. I stopped her by putting up my hand to catch her hand, I looked her in the eyes with a share that startled her, I got up and walked away. She never approached me again because I wanted her to understand that I may be young, but I was not one to mess with.

I'm Alright
It was morning and the sun was shining through my windows. I turned my head slightly in my bed to see my clock on the wall and saw that it was only 7:00 a.m. Seven fucking a.m. "Mommy!" My name was being screamed through my closed door by my little girl. This happened every morning, and usually, my response was more of a cheery one, but not this morning. This morning I was not in a cheery mood, so I just told her I'd be there in a minute. I flopped my head back down into my pillows and let out a long sigh. So it begins. The day begins again just as it did day after day. Morning after morning it was the same. Baby girl woke me up every morning screaming my name, and telling me she's hungry. I get up and make a half-ass effort to make us breakfast before I headed out to drop her off at school and me to work. I made a quick breakfast, painting my best smile for my daughter, as she went on and on about a dream she had. Normally, these mornings were the best, but lately, I felt numb to these things. I'm alright.

Christmas With Tiro
"Tiro! Tiro!" Called mommy. I opened my eyes, not knowing what day it was. As soon as I opened my eyes, my mommy was standing in my room, with a big smile on her face and her ugly Christmas sweater on. "Oh yes! It's Christmas!" I shouted jumping out of my bed. I ran downstairs with mommy, shouting "Merry Christmas!" all through the house. Momma was downstairs already, sitting near the Christmas tree with a big smile.

Christmas
During the holidays there are some of us that have a hard time. It might be something as simple as finding a Christmas gift. For others, it can be something greater, such as finding the Christmas spirit when they feel that there is no reason to be happy or celebrate.
