Four Must Have items for Newborns and Expecting Parents
If you haven't bought these, now is the time
When it comes to having a baby, the list of things you need to buy before your little one arrives can be seemingly endless. From car seats to strollers, to cribs and clothes, buying the essential items can be very overwhelming, which is why I'm writing this to make that process ten times easier. As a new parent, I have quickly been able to distinguish which products I needed right away and which products I could have waited on. Here are the Four Must Have Items for Newborns and Expecting Parents.
Number One: A Baby Carrier/ Car Seat. You can not leave the hospital with your newborn until a member of the hospital staff has seen your car seat safely installed in your vehicle. With that being said, this makes buying a baby carrier/ car seat 100% essential before your trip to the hospital to deliver your baby. The car seat/ carrier should be purchased NO LATER than 30 weeks into your pregnancy. One thing I MUST note here is that buying a carrier/ car seat combo is definitely the move as buckling and unbuckling a new-born while leaning into a car deems to be a difficult challenge. I have attached links to the BEST Car Seat/ Carrier combos offered on Amazon.

Number Two: A Diaper Bag. A diaper bag is an essential part of being anywhere with your newborn. It is recommended to change your newborn every three hours. Meaning unless you want to run home to change diapers every three hours, you need to have a diaper bag with wipes, diapers, and a changing mat with you at every moment. When looking for diaper bags, I recommend going with something small, but not too small. Something gender neutral. And something with a lot of compartments.

Number Three: A Bassinet. A Bassinet is basically just a cheaper version of a crib. However, bassinets are smaller and designed for infants who cannot sit or rollover on their own. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics it is recommended that babies sleep with their parents for the first 6 months of their life. This makes having a bassinet an extremely crucial aspect of being a new parent. The bassinet is basically jump a temporary crib for newborns as the get comfortable sleeping on their own. Many bassinets are portable which makes it very convenient for families on the go. Below is a link to the Bassinet I currently use and I highly recommend it.

Number Four: A Baby Monitor. If you're anything like me, you will pay extra to have peace of mind. A Baby Monitor is an essential tool that will provide new parents just that. When it comes to baby monitors there are so many options to purchase and choose from. I highly recommend the Owlet. The Owlet is a sock you put on your newborn. This sock is linked with your phone and a base and will alert you to any drastic changes in heart rate.
Overall, there are many products available for newborn babies, but these top four are essential for ensuring the comfort and safety of your little one. A good quality car seat/carrier, a baby monitor, a bassinet and a diaper bag will help you navigate the early days and weeks of parenthood with ease and peace of mind. Always make sure to research the different options available and choose products that are safe, comfortable, and easy to use. And remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions when using any baby products. Thank you for reading!
