Wildlife of Laos
Laos is a Southeast Asia country that Cambodia, China, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam border. Half of the country's woodlands are covered by evergreen tropical rainforests. Among the country’s nicknames is the “Kingdom of a Million Elephants”.
Native Animals
Water buffaloes are large bovines that live in Laos and the rest of southern Asia. They are used for plowing rice fields and transportation.

Asian elephants are abundant in Laos. They are the largest surviving terrestrial mammals in Asia and make their home in the forests.

Pygmy slow lorises are primates that live in thick tropical forests and bamboo groves.

Clouded leopards are full-grown leopards that live in thick forest habitats and climb trees. They can be found in the Nam Et-Phou Louey National Protected Area in northeastern Laos.

Sun bears are the smallest species of bears in the world. To protect these bears, the Laos government created the Tat Kuang Si and Luang Prabang Wildlife Sanctuary.

Spindlehorns are among the rarest mammals on Earth. They are only found in the Annamite Range in Laos and are closely related to cattle, antelopes, and goats. Both males and females have horns.

Indochinese tigers live in forests, grasslands, mountains, and hills.

Lar gibbons are a species of primates native to southeastern Asia. They inhabit forests, rainforests, bamboo forests, and evergreen forests.

Bengal monitors are a species of monitor lizards found in southeastern and western Asia.

Javan rhinoceroses are a very rare species of rhino native to southeastern Asia.

Greater hog badgers are a large species of mustelids native to southeast Asia.
Birds

Sarus cranes are the tallest flying birds in the world. They live in the Bolaven plateau in Attapeu province in Laos.

Giant ibisis are a species of wading birds. They live in southern Laos.

Slender-billed vultures are native to southeastern Asia and sub-Himalayan regions.
Marine Animals

Irrawaddy dolphins are native to the Mekong River.

Asian giant soft-shell turtles are a species of freshwater turtles native to southeastern Asia.

Siamese crocodiles are freshwater crocodiles and medium-sized species native to Laos and other Asian countries.
Wildlife of Lebanon
Lebanon is a small county in Asia in the geographical region called the Levant. It is located against the Mediterranean Sea and shares a land border with Syria to the northeast and Israel to the south.
Official National Animal

Striped hyena
Lebanon has over fifteen nature reserves all devoted to the preservation of natural beauty and wildlife.

The Aammiq Wetland located in the Bekaa Valley is the largest wetland area in the country. It is an important migratory route with over 250 bird species.

You can also see badgers, gazelles, striped hyenas, wolves, and otters.

The Al Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve is located in the Barouk Mountains in the center of the country, There are cedar forests and highlands.

It is home to boars, caracals, wolves, deer, jackals, and Nubian ibex.

The Tyre Coast Nature Reserve is located southeast of Tyre.

It is an important nesting site for migratory birds and sea turtles, Other wildlife here include badgers, lizards, bats, and the Arabian spiny mouse.
Native Animals

Middle East blind mole rats are a species of rodents native to the Levant. They inhabit Mediterranean-type shrubs.

Nubian ibexes are a species of goats native to northern and northeastern Africa and the Middle East.

Persian fallow deer live in Lebanon, Israel, and Iran.

Golden Jackals are common in Lebanon.

Egyptian mongooses are a species of mongooses native to the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea.

Caracals are a medium-sized species of wild cats native to Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Indian subcontinent.

Rock hyraxes are a medium-sized species of terrestrial mammals native to the Middle East and Africa.
Birds

Greater spotted eagles are a large species of birds of prey.

Eurasian eagle owls are a species of eagle owls widespread in Eurasia.
Marine Animals

Eurasian otters are a species of semi-aquatic mammals native to most of Eurasia.
